Break down of the Top 10/Champions in each of 11 divisions after 9 events and 103 fights in 2018

Only 38 of the top 121 fighters have had a fight in 2018
2 Champions have defended the belt after 9 Events and 3 being PPV cards

Zero Top 10/Champion have been used in the LW division. Obviously with 223 coming up this will all change.
Only 1 WW has been used
10 out of the 11 have been used in HW being the most active division
The FW division has a ton of top 10 fights coming up

One thing is you can't consider WFW as 11 fighters as there's only 1 or 2 in it.Thanks for a little leg work though,I like stats for some reason.

The lack of consistency with top guys is annoying.

I like stats, but I demand they be put into a cute and digestible "info-graphic" format.

Do you think it is the matchmakers or the fighters holding out?

Lots of things I would assume. They tend to try and load up end of the year and beginning of the year is generally soft minus Superbowl event (generally).Just how things come together, injuries, people holding out for sure and playing the game more than before.Guys jocking for position.More fighters on the roster.Idk just a bad run.

It's only late March , the LW division in in limbo because of that overrated and overpriced Irish jabroni can't be bothered to defend his title unless he's paid 6 figures at least ( more then he's worth ).

In 3 weeks we're going to be treated to Ferguson vs Khabib for the title.

This seems to be more of a reflection of the divisions' depth than anything else imo. Is that what you were going for?

btw generally "FLW" is used for Flyweight and "WFLW" for Women's Flyweight.

223 has a bunch of LW matchups as mentioned - would be cool if they did a card with lots of top 15 welterweights too like a small tourney card

I have no data to back this up but I feel like the average number of fights a fighter has per year has went down from 3 to 2 over the recent years.

I personally can't stand the shows that they put on television anymore. They make poor decisions regarding fighters that should be buried on the undercard and vice-versa. Taking legit talent and putting them on the undercard just to have a shit WMMA fight televised is to perfect example of how not always the best are chosen to get the spotlight.

Granted there have been fights that were exciting simply because some fighters are less talented than the ones who happen to win via KO of sub, but it just seems to be an example of poor matchmaking as opposed to a true contender in any division.

Only thing I know about the last 9 events is too much WMMA

More and more fighters are sitting on their hands once they break into the top 15, turning down fights unless it is above them in rank. UFC need to enforce some kind of system where after you fight up, you have to fight someone below in rank otherwise it isn't sustainable.

477 fights * 2 people/fight = 954 / 682 = 1.4 fights per year on average for each fighter.
