Lace up gloves vs. velcro

The other day I was training with some boxing guys for the first time and they wanted to know why I use gloves with a Velcro closure instead of lace up. I'm currently using Rival RSV2's and they seem to work well for me so far.

I've not used lace up gloves, but I have looked at a pair of Rival RS1's and a pair of Everlast Protex3's and both look really nice. But I don't see how people are able to put these on without assistance. Am I missing something? It just seems like lace up gloves would be a pain, especially when having to put them on and then take them off in a class.

Anyone here use lace up gloves? Why?

Go to Ringside.com and get a glove assistant. Problem solved. If you want to use lace ups. They have better wrist support I guess. I perfer velcro but I use fight gloves on the DE bag and such. Those are always lace up only.
