Kyukushin/Judo

    I'm surprised/slighty-amused/disappointed that this thread is still going on.
    BUT!
    I wonder why Kyokushin and BJJ say OSU and not Judo..

    What about the karate kid thing then? I ahve yet to see that in MMA, basically you grab the leg and elbow the knee

    that shit gotta hurt!:icon_chee

    I have trained that stuff before. We called them "leg destructions."

    I think the reason you don't see that is because it's not a very high percentage technique. Catching the kick is difficult enough as it is. Once you have the leg caught, it is much easier to just go for the takedown and take the dominant position.

    If you try to elbow the knee and you don't hit it exactly right, you will have lost your chance to capitalize on the opponent's mistake. From my experience, I don't think it would be very easy to hit it exactly right on a resisting opponent.
