It totally works though. He says it matter of factly. He is samurai and is prepared for death at any time.

I have watched only Seven Samurai, Ikiru, and Rashomon so far.

And my answer so far is: All of Kurosawa's movies are the best.

I bought a DVD of Ran (@Zer, this is the last of your movie recommendations I have left to watch. Thanks again.), but I want to watch The Idiot next, because I just finished reading the Dostoevsky novel on which it is based.

    Ran

Edit: I kinda want to switch it to Rashomon just for it becoming one of my favorite narrative styles.

    2. Ran
    3. Seven Samurai

P.S. If you are into Kurasawa, I'll also strongly recommend watching "Harakiri" by Masaki Kobayashi my personal goat movie.

I love that movie just as much as any by Kurosawa. Greatest slow-burn plot of all time IMO.

Kurosawa wrote the original script for it, like 20 years before it actually got made. Kurosawa has a "story by" credit on the final film with three other individuals credited for the screenplay. Coincidentally the person who directed it also has the initials AK.

My favorite is Red Beard, but I think it’s pretty hard to call anything other than The Seven Samurai him best.

Every Frame a Painting is one of the greatest youtube channels. It's too bad the people behind it ran out of things to say and stopped making them.
