According to an article in Chinese business magazine 商界 (http://goo.gl/gVljte), sources reveal KunLun FC* CEO Jiang Hua is in the bid to purchase the UFC. This was confirmed by Jiang Hua himself in a recent phone call - says he's backed by financiers with considerable resources, whose details cannot be revealed just yet, and "is more than willing to accept the 4 billion price tag".
Jiang believes that, besides being able to go toe-to-toe financially with Dalian Wanda and China Media Capital (the 2 current front-runners for the purchase), they have the decisive advantage in having a "combat DNA" and will be able to navigate the waters - this is in response to Dana's recent comment on the Dan Patrick show, implying that him and the Ferittas will get out together in case of a UFC sell. The author of the article questions Dalian Wanda and China Media Capital's ability to steer the UFC in the right direction without its current leadership.
The article also mentions that Kunlun FC's ultimate goal is to establish itself as a global combat sport brand and is currently valued at around USD 350 million. The article quotes Jiang saying that a successful purchase would be akin in magnitude to the 2006 Lenovo purchase of IBM's PC division and becoming the No.1 player globally."The meaning of that alone will be well-worth the 4 billion price tag" Jiang says.
Jiang also revealed that the UFC purchase is only the beginning for Kunlun's global expansion. In fact, he had previously offered USD 100 million in a bid to purchase Glory, but the offer has since gone down to 30 million cause Glory sucks donkey balls.
*Kunlun is a Chinese MMA/kickboxing promotion that's turned into a major regional player in a very short time (2 years). MMAWeekly recently did a piece on them
