Case in point: ngannou vs stipe.
Same thing happened with rumble vs dc as well. Despite dc wrecking him the first time, he was the favourite going in.

It's because people assume that the way the knockout artist was fighting when he got his 20 second ko in the last fight will stay for the whole fight but they always gas.

When you see a wrestler vs a ko artist and the odds are even its always a safe bet to go for the wrestler.
 
Yes, impressive highlight reel KOs tend to make the public overvalue fighters massively for that fighter’s next fight.

Assuming the wrestler has adequate stand-up to be able to successfully mix-in striking and take-downs. Wrestlers generally have superior cardio and strikers don't strike so well on the ground in bottom position.
