which rule would you want to change?

downward elbow is causing problems, but knees to the head on the ground are causing fighters to put one hand down and play that weird game of protecting their head.

what do you want to see changed first?

I don't care to see either tbh. I wouldn't mind seeing them legalized but I'm not obsessing over it like others do.

That being said, the "3 point rule" where a fighter is down by just is hand is fucking stupid and needs to leave

I'm still leaning closer to letting them choose a gladiator weapon of choice

Knees. The downward elbow is seldom used or called. Taking away knees really changes the game. You see guys all the time now use the hand down while standing to manipulate the 3 point down rule. Sad.

I would change the hand rule to a hand on the ground not being grounded. A knee or more must be down for it to count.

Knees to the head.

Give wrestlers a huge tool to finish and others a huge tool to finish wrestlers. Although the over whelming benefit would be to dominant wrestlers.

Knees easily. If a downward elbow strikes your eye, odds are you might go blind in that eye. Downward elbow strikes crush everything in their path. Knees don't.

Knees would keep some fights much more active, but the downward elbow thing is ridiculous

Knees. It's a brand new fight game. Some fighters will fade and some fighters will be reborn.

MMA ground fighting is like boxing, extremely limited.

knee's... punish those half ass take down attempts into turtles.

Yea, but the downward elbow thing has too many gray areas, because it can always be argued that it wasn't exactly 12-6, it was 11-7 or 1-8 or whatever.

I don't think 12-6 was meant to be taken literally, but meant to address downward elbows like what Travis threw at Barnett.
Now everyone argues them literally.

But more important than the knees or the elbows, is to address blows to the back of the head.
Refs just let them go. And fans say 'he was losing anyway', which does not address the safety concern.

God, knees for sure its an absolute must for real MMA

kicks to the head if BOTH fighters are grounded should be legal too - this would allow upkicks and kicks to the face to defend heel hooks and kneebars etc...

Where do you get this myth about downward elbows being so much more devastating than all other types? They are generally equivalent.

The knees seems to be a bigger adulteration of the sport, to me. So, change those first. Make it so that one hand down is not a criteria and that a knee must be down or go all out and make it so that the butt, hips, back, or stomach have to be on the mat. I'd favor the latter.
