Ok, I have a friend that has wanted me to help him train in MMA and I have very little Martial Arts experience (I do Kendo but that involves a sword so it is useless) and have a question about certain things in kickboxing.

What (if there even is) are the differences between the Muay Thai that is taught in the Netherlands and what is taught in Thailand?

It's something I have always been curious about and this just gives me an excuse to ask it.

Please don't burn me too bad.

Dutch muay thai has a lot of karate influence, and its not really muay thai per se. It's pretty much just kickboxing. More emphasis on hands too. I think I heard somewhere that in thailand they want fights that go the distance and in holland they like fights that end in KO.
