So y'all...I was introduced to this fine group of folks by some friends on Facebook. They basically consider wolves an "invasive species" and get off on killing them. They say that wolves are destroying their way of life by killing their livestock, pets, and their ecosystem. Kind of like the folks on that Discovery show (I think) who hunt wild boars (not exactly, but kind of.)

So what do you guys have to say about this and these people? Do they have a case or are they just a bunch of sick fucks who enjoy killing these wolves a little too much? I've looked at the numbers they use to justify themselves (they are on the Facebook page) and the loss of livestock/pets/human injury don't seem to justify their hatred of wolves to me.

Weren't the wolves already there though? That's not what invasive means. Sounds like some people justifying killing things.

I'd have to agree that Homo Sapiens are probably the most dangerous and invasive species on the planet.

The wolves were probably pretty pissed when a shit load of their habitat go turned into farmland

Again, we naturally spread to different lands. That's not invasive. Compared to pigs, toads, and cats that we introduced to places.

Not sure about wiping a species off the planet( other that rats of course) but i am for people protecting their livestock. And people should be able to shoot wild animals if they endanger thier stock in any way like coming on to their land but not just opening hunting them in the wild to the point of extinction.

Show them this picture. It shows how rare it is for livestock depredation to occur. It's a bullshit excuse by backward hillbillies to Kill predators.

Feral pigs are vastly more destructive than wolves. They eat everything, rip up land just for the hell of it, and are more likely and capable of attacking and killing people than wolves. On top of that, they're not an indigenous species to begin with, but escaped domestic animals. I can see the point of culling feral hogs. http://feralhogs.tamu.edu/frequently-asked-questions-wild-pigs/

Killing wolves is bullshit, though.

Aren't some species of wolves on the endangered species list? Not to mention that WE essentially put them there by destroying swaths of their habitats?

Those fuckers can get up to as big as 500lbs and that's probably being generous on the size. DEFINITELY more of a problem than wolves.

So us humans destroy a creatures habitat and then bitch about them invading "our land"

Fucking geniuses

i think wolves should not be killed unless you catch them killing your animals. the ecosystem needs wolves to keep deer populations under control. in fact, i bet deer kill more people then wolves do by jumping in front of cars.

i think those people just think they're bad ass for killing wolves.

I got a friend that's going to go on one of these soon. I was invited but I'm not sure if I can take the time off. I'm a bigger fan of blasting coyotes though.

For all the angry people in here, wolves kill a lot of other animals, not just livestock. So they go on these hunts to keep the deer, elk and whatever else animals numbers up.

It's the same mentality that led to the extinction of the Thylacine. It is really a crime they are gone now.

I would love if feral hogs were running around Washington. Rotten swine.

As an Aussie that whole thing pisses me off big time. I remember being a little kid and it just blew my mind that we hunted them to extinction. Watching the old black and white footage of them in cages is a big downer

Its called nature my friend , predators usually hunt other animals

Of course they want to keep the deer and elk populations up, what are they going to mount on their wall if the wolves eat all their trophies

I know that. The animals got used to not having the Wolves around for so long so now that they're showing up again they do a real number on the deer and elk populations. Imagine one Wolfs diet, now imagine an entire pack.
