Thinking about getting into Kick boxing. I have a grappling background, any really want to learn some stand up. Anybody have some recommendations?

There's tonne of great gyms in Van. Are you in Vancouver proper or burbs? Kickboxing or Muay Thai?
The most notable would be World Kickboxing in Surrey where Josh Jauncey trains. But like I said there's lot of great gyms.

Second WKX (World Kickboxing) if you're around Surrey. The Jaunceys are the first family of kickboxing in BC....

For pure Muay Thai, Song's has historically been the place, but not sure how busy it is nowadays. KTB MMA is the new player (and where I am). While he's in town, Sean Kearney (ranked at Lumpini and Omnoi stadiums) is teaching the Friday Muay Thai classes. In addition, if you want to grapple too, Denis Kang is teaching the no-gi BJJ class.

The best gym I have ever trained at is WKX (kickboxing wise) as mentioned by the other guys above. Masters songs was very good back in the day however I am not too sure anymore.

Couple other good gyms
- KB1 North Vancouver (muay thai)
- Revamped Fitness Vancouver Hastings (muay thai only) Small gym not very competitive although the coaching is good
- Titan MMA is good for standup but great for grappling
- Scorpion MMA if you are down to train in the ghettos lol maple ridge (Dutch Style Kickboxing)

If you get the chance though go to WKX.

I was trying to find KTB's schedule on line but just got a webpage for ordering shirts.

Do you know it or have a link?

It's on their Facebook page. Right now, for evenings, it's M-W-F, kickboxing at 6pm, no-gi BJJ with Denis Kang at 7pm. There are ladies' gi BJJ classes on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I believe there is also kickboxing during the day every day.

Thanks! It's the daytime classes I am interested in. Guess I'll just swing by or call them.

Let me/us know how it goes Centaur if you end up going there. I'm a retired ammy fighter (havent fought in over 3 years) but i'm super fat now and really need to get back into training, even if it's not to fight again but just to get back in shape. Would love to hear your review after you trained there or any other gyms in the area (I'm near the PNE so keeping my ears/eyes open for good gyms).

Sorry to say, you can scratch KTB off the list in Vancouver, it's now closed.

Yep, sorry. There's also DCS (Diaz Combat Sports, run by Ryan Diaz) nearby.

Cool thanks man didn't know Ryan Diaz had a gym here. Do you train there? Any idea on the quality of the gym and gym fees? I couldn't find anything on their site.

I've been there a few times, but I paid drop-in fees. I haven't been there enough to form a complete opinion I mostly worked with a training partner of mine.

Go check it out and let me know what you think!
