WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is not completely sold on Robert Guerrero's reported left should injury. It was announced on Thursday that Guerrero suffered a left shoulder injury in training camp and was forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight with Marco Maidana, which was scheduled for August 27th in San Jose, California.

Maidana and Guerrero were fighting for the WBA's "regular" junior welterweight title. Maidana, who won the interim-title in April, became the "regular" champion when the sanctioning body made Khan the "super champion" at 140-pounds.

Khan, speaking to his Twitter followers, cast a shadow of doubt on the injury and made an allegation that Maidana paid Guerrero money to step aside in order to force a Khan-Maidana rematch. Maidana has been chasing Khan since their "Fight of The Year" bout in 2010. Khan is scheduled to return on December 10; no opponent has been set.

"No injury, I reckon Maidana paid off Guerrero [with] step aside money, so he can become the WBA [regular] champ because I have moved up as WBA super champ," Khan wrote.

This is the kind of comments that make me want to see Khans face smashed. I have liked him from day one but lately hes been grinding my gears with what he says. I dont care what he says about Marcos. they have their war of words but to suggest that a guy like Robert faked an injury is pretty insulting. I get that he was doing it to clown on Marcos but your questioning Roberts integrity. Seems like a douche move to me.

Same here. I wonder what GBP feels about his comment. Shaefer made a statement earlier that Guerrero was getting his shoulder checked but the initial prognosis was that it was a torn rotator cuff and that the fight would most likely be off.

Most likely scenario: Khan was taking a shot at Maidana and Guerrero got caught up in the crossfire. It's still a bit of a douche move.

Why do we suddenly give a shit about Amir Khan's take on everything?

When he does more than barely escape Maidana, and slap around a faded Judah, I might start to care.

I'm still bummed he didn't fight Hatton.

He's not bi-polar, he's just not very smart and not used to making public statements. A deadly combination.

to those who have twitter go and look at how chino reacted to khan's comments. It was outstanding.

Wow, khan beats one faded B+ legend and suddenly he thinks he's the hottest thing ever. This shit talking really doesn't fit his personality and will probably only end up hurting him in the end.

Khan is talented but he makes it very hard to root for him

By William Mackay:

WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan apologized for his earlier claim that Robert Guerrero’s shoulder injury wasn’t real and that he had been paid a step aside fee by WBA light welterweight champ Marcos Maidana.

Khan reversed course in his twitter today, saying “Guys I was messing around about the injury of Guerrero. Apologies for the tweet. I’m sure he didn’t get paid step aside money…Let’s hope he recovers. Bet Maidana’s happy for not wanting to get beaten up.”

Maidana has already said he’s willing to fight Khan if he’s up to it. Khan says he has nothing to gain from fighting Maidana again after squeaking by with a 12 round decision last December in a fight that Khan took a ferocious beating in. A lot of boxing fans think Khan is flat out terrified of fighting Maidana again. These thoughts also echoed by Maidana.

It’s likely that Khan will never fight Maidana or his former conqueror Breidis Prescott again. Khan is looking to fight only one more time at 140, and is hoping to get a fight against Erik Morales if he beats Lucas Matthysse next month on September 17th.

As for Maidana, Golden Boy promotions is trying to find a last second opponent to save the August 27th date but things aren’t looking good at this time with only one week to go before the fight date.

Guerrero may have suffered a serious shoulder injury. It’s unclear whether he’ll need surgery or not to repair the damage done in a sparring session. If so, it could be awhile before we see Guerrero in the ring.

Khan apologizes for claiming Guerrero wasn’t injured, says Maidana was lucky not to get beaten up

Are people starting to see why I consider Khan unlikeable and in turn why that may prevent him from becoming the "superstar" some people think he will be?
