what's with everyone's obsession with fighting Nate Diaz?

I really cannot see UFC matching up, at this point, Masvidal and Chimaev.

Why? Because BOTH fighters are very valuable to the UFC as far as being a draw (OK Chimaev is very much the new kid on the block but he's rising meteorically fast).
UFC do not want Chimaev to lose and they don't want Masvidal to lose. And so....they'll keep these two separate.

Luque or Magny or Wonderboy are far more likely as next oponents for Khamzat.

Obviously the man is tough, but after talking so much crap about Colby but still refusing to fight him, he really is looking like a pussy right now.

Deep in his soul, Masvidal knows he is not a top-level fighter.

Deep in his soul, he knows he loses to Colby.

Deep in his soul, Masvidal doesn't want to run the risk of paying for his chickenshit sucker-punch to Edwards.

Deep in ALL of our souls, NO ONE wants to see Nate Diaz again (especially in another yawner w/ Masvidal).

That said, I actually think Masvidal could give Chimaev a pretty tough test, because Masvidal is definitely schooled. Hell, if he lost to Chimaev, people could excuse him, and it would be a pretty big payday. If he beat Chimaev, of which there is a high likelihood, due to his experience (and Chimaev's lack thereof), Masvidal would then reposition himself to possibly fight for a title shot.

If he scared of Colby and Edwards, and rightly so, he needs to face the fact that Nate Diaz is no longer a marquee name. He's a rubbery, flimsy dumb ass whose clout is no longer there.

Masvidal needs to remember that his surprising everyone, and KO'ing UFC newcomer Ben Askren, was his ticket to his current stardom.

If he wants that stardom to shine again, he needs to surprise everyone again, by meeting and beating another newcomer, this time because Khamzat Chimaev.

Does him not succeeding with Diaz mean if the fight doesn't get made or if he doesn't win in the rematch? Nonetheless there's no way in hell Jorge accepts, he's not a true BMF like Chimaev

According to the article Chimaev hints that if current talks of Diaz-Masvidal doesn't go well and they scrap the idea of a rematch then Masvidal might be his next opponent. So apparently UFC is working on a Diaz-Masvidal rematch at the moment.
