Khabib's singles a threat? A humbling analysis. How footwork/Conor stepping to outside angle NEGATES

And you're eager to avoid the fact that he had a two week training camp and ragdolled Conor, the only wrestler he's faced in his career.
Except Mendes himself said he was preparing to replace Aldo way before Aldo got injured.

Another long winded thread trying prove how Conor is going to beat Khabib?

self diagnosed 80% tear, no surgery needed... if you believe that.

Lol I do not

You can’t plant with a torn ACL.
You can’t whip body kicks with a torn ACL.
You can’t scramble from bottom with a torn ACL.

McGregor fans that believe there was any damage to his ACL beyond a minor sprain (also highly unlikely) are some of the dumbest people to lurk these forums.

Before we get into the meat of things we must first understand the dynamics of a southpaw vs orthodox matchup.

Firstly, remember, the stances are simply mirror images of each of other. What ever an orthodox can do, the southpaw can do, and vice versa.

Any "pre-fight advantages" lie in the fact that there are less southpaws out there, so orthodox fighters are not as well versed in facing southpaws, where as a southpaw will have much more experience facing orthodox opponents.

(The only southpaw on this planet who seems to struggle often against orthodox fighters is Kelvin Gastelum)

A dynamic between southpaw vs orthodox is the battle of feet positioning

Firstly, there is the outside angle and the Inside angle (also T-position which is typically the worst position anyone can find themselfes in)

Now even though the inside angle is not the best position you want to be in.

  • From the Inside angle your jab hand does align perfectly with your opponents head. You can step in to the inside with your jab. Step back out, never reach with It, and always bring it back (the glarring mistakes Rockhold made vs Bisping). Its however great to step to the outside and drop your jab hand down on your opponent over his leadhand (lead hook or with like a jab/hook variant)

  • Masterminds Like Floyd and Conor will willingly give up the outside angle as bait to lure an opponent into a counter. Roy Jones also did this. As soon as they see - or feel the step out, they know the power hand is coming behind the step out, and they are ready to slip and counter

So conventional wisdom can be broken and is often used as bait by masterminds like Floyd and Conor

However, southpaw vs orthodox fights typically become a battle for the outside positioning

basic_outside_step_diagram.png

Both can step their foot outside the opponents lead leg to attain the outside angle.

This lines up the power hand while putting your head off the center.

Now this is where we begin.

2. Orthodox vs southpaw does mean that the lead leg is closer to the leadhand and therefore the singles are there. HOWEVER as we just talked about the outside angle, Conor simply stepping to his right - and stepping to the outside angle, will negate any single legs.

When a southpaw steps his foot to the outside angle, any possibilities of grabbing the single are out the window. You have to reach across your body to do so.

I will now begin to show you examples of how masterful Conor is at setting up his steps outs and utilising the outside angle

Here is an example of Conor's unpredictable rhythm+footwork, where he's always keeping opponents guessing, leading opponents around to where he wants them, and gets them walking into the shots he wants.

"Im here, nope im here, here have an offbeat left straight for your troubles, oh you think thats all, boom, lead uppercut, now I step to the outside angle and drop another left on that ass"
iokt4i.gif

UZA6.gif

Here is Conor with a lead uppercut into the step out, to line up his left from the outside angle...and then just like that, Conor is back out of range

Show me, anywhere in those sequences where the opponent had the ability to grab Conor's leadleg?

Furthermore, one of Khabib's biggest weaknesses is in his footwork, especially when facing southpaws.

ezgif.com-resize-84.gif

That exchanged happened because Johnson stepped to the outside angle

When facing southpaws Khabib seems to often times have no awareness of feet positioning or an understanding of angles. And you will see more cases of that in his fight against Tibau. Go watch it.

Not only will Conor stepping to the outside angle, negate any single leg pulls, while lining up and landing his lefts/combos (like usual)

Conor is also a master at walking opponents away from his leadleg and toward his power hand

Conor is a master at positioning opponents around to where he wants them, when he wants them.

Here is an example
4vmej6.gif

Here Conor probes his lead hand as a blinder/distraction, then shoots a jab behind it. It may not seem like much, but pay attention to how it pushes Alvarez out of range and gets Alvarez circling back toward Conor's left

Another example
28gv6nq.gif

Jab then push kick. Again to back Alvarez out of range (range control) and to get Alvarez to move where he wanted him to (back circling toward his left)

What people are still failing to realise is that fighting starts at the footwork level

Khabib needs to be able to penetrate Conor's footwork and range control first before he can even begin to start to do anything.

There's a reason why Alvarez was never able to grab Conor's leadleg. Because Conor never allowed it with his footwork and range control.

Conor was constantly moving Alaverz away from his leadleg and toward his left with footwork/fients/jabs/front kick

Think of it as a chess board and Conor is Bobby Fischer positioning opponents around to where he wants them

The only TD oppurtunities Alvarez had were level change shoots/doubles etc

2yzaqys.gif

Watch how Conor has his right hand on Alvarez neck to control him and come over the top with the left, then breaks away

Conor WILL make you pay for anything - from any range and any position..

You shoot in on Conor you better complete the TD because Conor will make you pay with strikes in transition or on the breakaway

3. Here is a dynamic of a southpaw vs orthodox match up that plays a far greater role then people realize. Southpaw vs orthodox puts the leadhands at a natural interference with each other.

FDrDUHc.png

This is a huge advantage for Conor since Conor has the best leadhand game in MMA. It's Conor's game to want to shut down the jab hand and or draw out right hand responses to counter etc

This puts Conor in a prime position to shut down Khabib's jabhand with leadhand control

2ihuvkl.gif

Conor can quickly render Khabib a 1 armed fighter

And considering how rudimentary a striker Khabib is, Conor can start forcing out right hand responses, on his terms, off his leadhand control, to counter. Like below

fsPCQnE.gif

Leadhand control to lockdown the jab hand and force out the right to counter

And as you saw in the Alvarez gif, when an opponent doesn't bite on responding with the right hand when Conor wants it, Conor will mix it up on the fly and switch to using his leadhand as distractionary devices - and his jabs as blinders to disguise for the leads on those patented Conor off-beats when opponents aren't expecting

The 2 biggest battles in any opposite stance match up are the feet and the leadhands....These all widely favor Conor....and especially when Khabib himself has such poor footwork, all you have to do is put 2 and 2 together here to see what is most likely to happen.

I just hope the same people shitting on Conor now, give Conor his full credit after the fact
I will keep it simple T.S. All the footwork Conor uses, and anything you can spin, will not stop this :

Conor got tossed around by Midget Mendez before Mendez gassed. Khabib is going to absolutely wreck him.
i have trouble with the conor hype for this reason. mendez had a three day camp and is tiny as fuck compared to conor. conor doesn't have the tdd, the ability to get up off his back, or the jits to deal with khabib. if khabib can avoid taking a clean shot as he charges straight in, he will wear conor down and pummel the shit out of him.

You have trouble with the Conor hype because you are delusional. Chad isn't tiny compared to Conor, nor did he have a 3 day camp. He had already been training as a replacement, and Conor also had a shortened camp as well due to injury.

He's also 170 lbs of juiced up muscle, and one of the very best wrestlers in the sport who happens to have the most lethal move to attack Conor there is, a double leg. Yet he landed only 4/7 takedowns, and Conor got up from three of them (two of them immediately - debunking your myth he can't get up either)

The more Sherdoggers tell me Conor has no chance the more chance I actually give him.

It's an expert analysis. Something you and other Conor haters are incapable of. Just because it isn't blind Conor-hating rhetoric doesn't mean it's nonsense.
If you bought that nonsense as "expert analysis", I feel sorry for you.

There are arguments to be made for McGregor winning this fight, but this thread is not a good example.

It is pseudo-intellectual word salad that only proves TS has mental problems and too much time on his hands.

You made some great points that I didn't consider...

Good analysis.

What part of it isn't true then? Let me hear your counter-analysis. You can't just brush off informed-statements as "pseudo-intellectual", just because you say so. That's not how it works.

Don't be angry at him just because he knows a lot more about MMA than you.
{<jordan}

Only a conor fanboi could possibly believe this, lmao.

It's like the fat girls who tell each other the girls who make fun of them are just jealous of how hot they are.

too long.
and i disagree... because if all conor has to do is step out side with his lead foot then it is the exact same for khabib... all he has to do is step put side... and dive on the leg...

Once Khabib gets the clinch there will be no breakaway.

Framing the neck isn't going to work against Khabib, he's gonna end up on his ass with Khabib on top of him.

Then break it down for us why TS is wrong, or GTFO.

Psuedo fanboy fight knowledge and delusional nonsensical rambling imo

You're smoking gun here seems to be Alvarez, who was concussed, rocked and shook when he attempted half assed td's on Conor and he's not 1/10th the wrestler Khabib is and he even managed to back and clinch Conor into the cage after being dropped repeatedly. Diaz outwrestled and outgrappled Conor ffs. There are levels to this game.

You seem also to be ignoring the fact that:

Most of the other gifs you used are completely irrelevant to your point, which is unclear through all of of your rambling.

Conor faced one wrestler in his entire UFC career, who also happened to be a fw, and he got taken down 4 times in two rounds and controlled.

He's not some master of defensive wrestling or grappling, he's one of the weakest in the division who has been given stylistically favorable matchups.

tenor.gif

Conor trained for a MT striker and had two hurt knees going into that fight. He literally didnt train wrestling and still stuffed half of Mendes shots, who is statistically one of the best wrestlers in UFC history.
