I mean kabib was moving forward landing punches!!! I know Conor likes it when his opponent moves towards him. Same with Tony. I think Edson is more of a defensive fighter, couldn't take the pressure. I remember when Machida was in his prime fighting like that would get you knocked out against the dragon. Chael knows this style very well. Khabib is like a super advanced version of Chael. Better wrestler, better grappler, better striker, better chin, better top control, and better gnp with good submission defense. Scary stuff.

I hate to admit it but I bought into that a bit. I said yeah he's a one trick pony but he does that trick very very well. Dude has striking sure, but it's like Cain, it's rudimentary but highly effective because of the threat of the takedown. He's definitely better at grappling. I think Tony is wayyyyyy better off his back than Conor. If it gets taken there.

But Mark my words, Conor is not going to fight Khabib. IF Conor comes back he's gonna fight Tony win lose or draw that will be his last fight. He has 100 million in the bank. I would be surprised if he comes back at all but I think UFC tempts him with a good offer. He wants a partnership with the UFC much like the celebs under the WME banner have. I think UFC wants to keep him around simply as a hype man. He can be a personality. The guys the UFC has chosen to be in the broadcast booth are good guys but I think the UFC would easily boot DC, Cruz or Hardy for a Mcg. Just because you'e rich doesn't mean you stop living. He has to do something. He just doesn't have to take head trauma and chokes anymore for it.

With Nurmagomedov in his face the entire time, he wasn't able to set his feet or throw the kicks...

Gilbert, Pettis, Dariush, Ferguson, etc couldn't take Barboza down. He has some of the best TDD in the division. It's the reason lots of people were saying he had a great chance. The fact that Khabib stayed so dominant in his grappling is a pretty scary prospect

His striking still is meh IMO. When Edson was fresh he didn't really do much but after he smashed him in the first he started to land some decent shots on the feet but only because Edson was exhausted and hesitant knowing what was going to happen once he got on the ground again.

Yeah it was a good strategy...take away Barboza's reach advantage by charging forward, knowing he'll eat some shots on the way in, but Barboza won't have enough room to get a full punch in (or kick). Khabib's striking is very basic, but utilitarian. He's a smart fighter.
