ESPN MMA’s Marc Raimondi speaks with Khabib Nurmagomedov about the future of his promotion, Eagle Fighting Championship and more.

The UFC said to Islam they will give double bonus to him if he can finish Ben.

1:50 Eagle FC’s plans for 2022.
9:30 Islam Makhachev vs. Beneil Dariush getting announced for February 26
13:02 His comments about Justin Gaethje not deserving the next title shot.
17:49 Who wins between Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira?
19:55 Turning down an offer to box Floyd Mayweather and living his new life.

*Thread's merged - @Ackmed's cliffs
- he stands by his comments about Islam deserving the TS before Justin, says it was him typing and not anyone else
- adds that he likes Justin, has a lot of respect for him, repeats the story about Justin helping him during his weight cut against Horcher

- says Islam and Dariush each deserve a TS next... they are both better fighters than Dustin and Justin "this is my opinion" but the latter two are bigger names so he understands UFC's reasons for giving them the next title shots and making Islam & Dariush fight each other
- UFC promised Islam he gets a TS next with a win and that he'll get a "double bonus" if he finishes Dariush

He shoulda taken the paycheck.

That would have doubled his career earnings and been inconsequential to his legacy.
It would've been disastrous for his legacy in the eyes of many(dumb but it's true) and he dosnt need the money . Whatever you say about him , Khabib isn't the kind of man to lower his dignity for a paycheck . Especially when he's already a millionaire and set for life along with his children's children.

I'm glad he could afford to not accept Floyd's offer. he should find the money to offer Mayweather somehow more than the offer presented to him for an MMA match to counter those headlines.

sickly would love to see Floyd try to deal with Khabib in an mma fight. it's pretty easy to imagine how that would go, but would be helpful for the world to see it.

He promised his mom he wouldn't fight again so no he shouldn't

If his mom won't let him fight MMA where he can take everything to the ground and receive minimal damage, she wouldn't be cool with him getting pieced up on the feet by a pro boxer

interested to see who the new signings are. EFC has a pretty good roster already for an MMA org that's only a year old.

So Islam fights for money and not legacy?

The UFC will give Islam a "double bonus" if he can finish Beneil?

One thing that was nice in Chile, people have homes/ business, they usually working from home. Nice life style and right next to the beach.

Doubled? probably 5x his career earnings if not more

So Eagle FC will pretty much be a development/feeder organization to the UFC? Pretty cool

Khabib's real good and more communicative than ever in this interview. He's really growing into his promoter/MMA statesman role real well.
And he's a good coach too, to boot.
Transitioning seamlessly to post - retirement, man.
Just a goddamn winner.

Thing is
Charles is a way fresher matchup for them Dagestanis them Dustin and Justin
So if Justin/Dustin beats him, the fight vs Islam will be underwhelming

What if Beniel finishes Islam and derails this train? Double bonus for him?

He said "this is very interesting."

I think the implication is that UFC feels Islam is more marketable as a LW champ than Beneil, especially if he goes into a TS with 4 finishes in a row, so they're offering more incentive than usual.

Unless if they also offered the same to Beneil
