"I don’t think he has better jiu-jitsu than me, better grappling, I think he’s unpredictable a little bit. He has very good knee, very good elbow. But I don’t think he ever fight with somebody like me, who have like pressure, top control, good everywhere. Strong.”

“When we go to the cage, when cage close, we’re gonna show this. Me and Tony Ferguson is different level.”

Well, even if he did, f*** it.

26-0.

Well, there's only one way to find out.

Let's hope Khabib makes weight, because at the presser he didn't seem too confident and said "he hopes" he makes weight.

Damn, April 7th can't come soon enough!

Guys, jiu-jitsu is not only grappling from bottom position. So yeah, Khabib has the best top control that is a big part of bjj.

and Tony doesn't have the punching power or accuracy that Conor does. I can't see him winning.

I would tend to agree that Khabib is stronger on the ground in general than Tony.

But Khabib said a key couple of things there - Cucuy has unpredictable movements, and elbows.

These two things are something to keep an eye out for in the fight, as they may cause Khabib to work at a pace that he's not used to, and the elbows could well cut him up early.

I think Khabib is going to win the early battles, but I also have a feeling that it may wear on him a little more than he's used to, and make the fight interesting in the later rounds.

Khabibs English makes him seem even scarier lol.

tony no as good. me strong. strong more everywhere. I show. cage close, I show tony who strong wrestling is. Sambo only, no for gay planet bjj

Agreed.

The longer Tony lasts into the fight, the more dangerous he is going to be IMO. I could see him taking a beating for 3-4 rounds and still having the juice to push Khabib.

In order to be able to land those elbows effectively, he'll have to be holding khabib in his guard and controlling his posture, something virtually all of the eagle's previous opponents have failed miserably at. With respect to what you call ferguson's "unpredictability", I think that's something that helps in scrambles but it's not going to mean much while he's on his back, pressed against the cage, eating nurmagomedov's ground and pound.

We'll see.

I could be entirely wrong, and it may be the one-sided, non-competitive beat-down that many are predicting.

But I do have a sneaking suspicion that if it goes past the 3rd, that it may be more competitive than a lot of folks are calling.

khabibs forsure the better grappler wen it comes to basics, but I wonder how often he trains with people who have an effective rubber guard

Khabib is a white belt bjj player, his submittion game is not good, he has good control & gr8 wrestling but he's a white belt with submittions compared to Tony.

IMO he is right.
His top control & pressure is on a different level than anyone else.

This is an intriguing fight and I hope we get to see it this time...

When Khabib fought in Russia he was mainly winning by submission, and he looked very good doing it. He seems to have moved away from that style in the UFC, either because of the quality of opposition or because of the scoring system. But his sub game is very solid and he would be working from top control against almost any opponent.

Has tony done any grappling competitions? Khabib would probably murder him in a straight grappling match.
