He attempted a couple of takedowns in those rounds actually but Al slipped out of the single legs.

I dont think he fought safe. He got very aggressive plenty of times,forcing to close the distance. He literally went berzerk and threw a flying knee to get the final takedown. Alot of what he did was reacting on what Al did. Al decided to dig himself into that stance and trying to pressure,and Khabib for his part kept jabbing and trying not to give ground,land strikes whenever he could,and occasionally low single. I dont see anything safe about the fight.
