Islam has made an entire title reign out of beating up on midgets. People don't want to see him fight another unproven dwarf and will give him no credit if he does. Khabib is 100% correct.

I don't think it's his supporters that are particularly against this fight - they probably want to see him fight another midget - it's mainly his semi-haters like me.

I think Arman is more proven at 155 and should be next. Don’t care about punishing him, just want the best fights. Don’t know that he’s a tougher fight necessarily, but there are definitely more questions about Ilia at 155. I’d personally like to see Ilia lay his claim in the division fighting somebody like Oliveira first. That potential fight just gets bigger if both Islam and Ilia win. Saying he could be a nobody is super hyperbolic though, nobody can take away what he’s done.

Yes. As good as Ilia looks at 145, we don't know if that transfers to 155. If I'm Islam, I want the fights that will further my legacy at LW and right now that's Arman. You could even argue a rematch with Charles would do more for Islam's legacy at LW than fighting Ilia. But Ilia could change all that by simply taking a contender fight and proving himself.

He will NEVER seek the match up that furthers his legacy, He will ALWAYS seek the easiest match up that can be justified. What Khabib’s saying makes perfect sense. And it’s not a lot to ask, Ilia should have at least one legit 155 fight so that there are no doubts about his viability at the top of 155. Islam’s legacy should not be defenses against mostly FWs. And we’re talking about a FW champ who only defended his belt once, where is this sense of entitlement coming from lol?
