Khabib and Floyd Mayweather both have one thing in common besides being undefeated...

Some people may get offended, but this is 100% true.

Most fighters don't train year round, they eat and drink whatever they please between camps. But just taking out the alcohol does such great benefits, it's so much easier to focus and maintain your fitness, even if your screwing off and eating snacks, you atleast aren't compounding that with alcohol.

It's the little things that build discipline and set you apart from the pack, I doubt Anderson or GSP were big drinkers either.

Some guys need that edge though, they likely already have some screws loose and living the way they want to live helps them cope with fighting. Lot of depression and substance abuse in combat sports, Floyd and Khabib also had amazing support systems as well.

Both these guys avoid any alcoholic beverage. Not drinking allows them to recover super fast and it gives them longevity. On the opposite end, you have Chuck Liddle and Conor McGregor who go hard in the booze and this leads to slower recovery which negatively affects their performance.

Donald Trump also refrains from alcoholic consumption but I'm going to be honest with you, he is not doing it for Islam but rather he had a brother who passed away from being an alcoholic.

What about alcohol used in cooking?
Do they dine on meals that have had alcohol used as an ingredient?
Of course, if cooked properly, the alcohol is simmered or cooked off.

I'm 33 and drank pretty heavily for almost 15 years, which included the entirety of my adulthood at the time I stopped. I managed to do okay for myself despite that but the further away I am from my last drink (and to a lesser extent, the other substances alcohol occasionally led to), the more I see that I could've done a lot better. I never did any of the heinous shit (spousal abuse, drunk driving) or suffered any single substantial loss (lost job, failed marriage) from drinking but I look back on all the little ways it impacted my life and what that all amounted to was a ton of wasted money, time, health, and ambition that ultimately made everything more difficult and complicated than it had to be. I don't know what I could've been without alcohol and I'm not too beat up about what I have become with it but there's this little twinge in the back of my mind that I have to actively work through sometimes because the reality that I spent a considerable portion of my life duped by such an obvious scam of a substance is pretty embarrassing. The terribly sad thing is that I worked in an industry that focused on analyzing consumer behavior. I actually spearheaded projects about the effectiveness of alcohol advertising, took the money I earned from that, and gave it right back to the purveyors of alcohol who hired me to help figure out how to more effectively move their product.

That is just ignorant stupid talk.
There is no difference. Consuming alcohol whether you're an addict or not is a conscious act of destroying your liver. In both cases, it's a mental illness. There is no such thing as "moderation" when it comes to outright poison.

Cancer sticks suck!! Nicotine slaves suck!!!
True, but the reason I singled out the west is because they put so much emphasis on health & lifestyle stuff, in America you damn near can’t find anywhere to smoke because they’ve turned being a smoker into a huge stigma. And yet they promote alcohol without flinching and pretend it’s good in moderation. In Russia, Latin America, or parts of Africa they don’t give a shit if you smoke, drink, eat cheeseburgers every day, work with asbestos, etc. They treat all the vices the same.

Cancer sticks are straight up toxic. Hideous chems put into the process of making cancer sticks. Nicotine slaves are pathetic. Alcoholics are pathetic.
But nothing wrong with a small amount of alcohol drink with a meal. Nothing wrong with using alcohol beverages with cooking.
Alcohol is straight up poison. It’s like there’s a silent conspiracy in the West to ignore how bad alcohol actually is for the human body, EVEN in moderation.

Anything excessive is bad, call me batshit crazy, i think coffee is worst long term, fucks up your liver, kidney, bone density but since its the 3rd commodity and brings in temporary productivity and cash like tobacco, why not right?

Donald Trump also refrains from alcoholic consumption

Yet he sold such poison to the public

This is haram brotha.

Lol, no. Some people still smoke, but it’s way way way down from peak usage back in the day. It might be a bit more prevalent in high stress jobs, but society as a whole smoking has cratered in the states. This is especially true when compared to Europe.

There was a time when smoking was ubiquitous, kinda like alcohol today. That’s the comparison I’m making, they’ve managed to drastically cut down smoking due to health concerns (see link below) but won’t say a peep about alcohol. https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallm...-to-historic-low-infographic/?sh=6fd9c90e3351
I noticed the downtrend but is it factoring people switching from ciggs to vapes? I know a lot made that switch and that affected tobacco industry heavily that's why they went after the whole tobacco vape industry. I'm not sure where it is legally right now since I haven't kept up with the info but last news I remember seeing was them making flavored vapes illegal. I guess it made the smokers realize how horrible the actual taste of ciggs were once given a different option. I'm all for the downtrend though. Ciggs are pretty pointless and if nicotine is what they really want/need than vaping is a better option overall.

Alcohol won't be going anywhere though. It's the staple and pretty much a part of culture when it comes to shows/concerts/bars/restaurants/night clubs/sporting events/etc. Some people need it to loosen up in those environments and business like it for the most part because they charge high prices for alcohol (thousands per bottle at a night club) and people tend to spend more after a few drinks. It's great for sales for food and everything else. That's why casinos offer free drinks to anyone gambling, they want them to be more willing to gamble with their money and the house always wins.

Well to be fair, it's not like they have a choice.

These guys are the size of a 14 year old.

They don't abstain from alcohol because they don't like it, they do it because nobody will sell it to them.

Actually that s bullshit. Red wine , of consumed in moderation (1-2 glasses per day), is actually beneficial for you arteries.

Half-assed philosophy. Eating beets does the same but without the cons alcohol brings into the picture.

"A shot of brandy is good for your circulation! It's scientifically proven!"

Sure, but it's also bad for your liver, brain etc. You can achieve the same positive effect and more by getting off your couch and going for a walk/run/swim.
