Latest update: October 31, 2019 at 12 p.m. MST
Emergency crews remain focused on responding to our release and have begun recovering oil, using vac trucks, backhoes and other specialized equipment on-site to assist in the recovery efforts. The approximate size of the impacted area is 2,500 yd2 or less than half the size of a football field.

TC Energy is continuing to work with regulatory agencies and provided them with an initial estimate that 9,120 bbls of oil were released; approximately half the size of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. As part of our reporting responsibilities to the National Response Center (NRC) and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), it is necessary to provide an initial estimate of the reportable spill’s volume within the first hour of discovery. To do that, TC Energy has developed a volume estimating methodology that is based on initial measurements of the length, width, depth and estimated concentration of the visible product on the surface. We will not have the exact figure until oil recovery has been completed.

Our crews will remain focused on oil recovery and then prepare to make repairs to the pipeline. We will provide updates as they become available.

It will be some time before they know if it polluted the ground water.

Who would ever have thought that the pipeline could leak!

I'm not the kinda person to say atodaso, but you know what? Atodaso, Julian. A-fuckin-atodaso!

If they are admitting to 350,000 gallons it's very likely a lot more maybe in the millions. Scientists have warned since the beginning of the pipeline construction that little if any research was done on the transportation of the highly corrosive highly pressurized Canadian oil sand oil would have on the pipe. The builders of the pipeline made false claims about the safety of the delivery spending millions on internet advertising how they would hire 1,000's of workers who would inspect the pipeline and insure that things like this would never happen. Everyone knew this was BS they where not going to hire tons of people to inspect the pipeline. So as my man Nate would say I'm not surprised MFers. See above.

Pipes leak, and the companies should be liable for te clean up.
That said we still use and need oil. To transport it b truck or rail is much more polluting and way more dangerous

Yeah Tulsi is a Russian operative as she wants to end US dependency on oil.

We don't need to be shipping Canadian oil to Texas to be sold oversea's.

It's downhill most of the way. It's economically better and environmentally better than long it over the rockies.
Thing is pipelines are necessary for modern society. Pipeline owners should also be accountable. So there that

Almost all the oil from the Keystone pipelines is sold overseas. If we're going to ship oil through a pipeline, it goes through a state, the same state where this oil leaked, that produces the most oil in the country.
It's also easy to sit back and not care about leaks when the pipeline doesn't go under land you own and can poison your water supply.

will be interesting to see what happens to their stock price today. Will likely pick some up. They pay a nice dividend.

Wasn't there a second picture that was taken from above?

So what if its sold elsewhere. Getting it OT market efficiencntly is the key to lowering pollution caused by oil consumption.

yeah, it's totally worth it to poison our land and water with foreign oil that gets sold overseas by companies that are making record profits while not being held responsible for the damage they cause.

The question is do we need the oil or is the US being used for the US oil company profits. A lot of that oil being refined in Texas and shipped out of the largest oil shipping port in the US. US back is constantly being used to the benefit of big oil.

Ture it does benefit big oil. That doesn't mean it's always a bad thing.

TC Energy stock is currently up 2.5% today lol!
Well most pipeline companies are basically utilities and make good money. They are usually run as MLPs and payout decent dividends. So it makes sense people buy them even with a spill

Ok. Good job buddy. Yes everything oil related must be fought against even if winning means nothing.
Try using less plastic if you actually care and stop driving around pointlessly
