Just to put it into perspective, a billionaire can invest his or her money in a very safe investment at a couple percentage points over inflation and receive $20,000,000 per year in investment income without lifting a finger, which is taxed at 15%--less than most middle class taxpayers. The system really is rigged, it's not debatable.

In Canada we've had citizens with *free health care*(we spend more per household on free healthcare than American households spend on health insurance) while we have citizens who died waiting in emergency, we pay extremely high prices on a service that no one wants to use, and most of our health budget is spent on beurocratic bullshit, like every single socialised program today.

The entire concept your perpetuating is that Government can spend your money better than you(although you ignore the giant fee thats comes with that service), and they sell it by saying dont worry because you dont have a lot of money for us to spend, but if you vote for us we'll spend rich peoples money as well, and you'll get more than you put in.

Looking at the problem that way will only give you the symptom, not the systemic cause. Taxing industry will result in loss of jobs, period. Taxing American service industry and forcing them to pay their employees more will only incentivize their investment in automation.

The answer is there is no answer. We are living in a bloated corpse of a once great economy. Only a drastic overhaul can revitalize it now. Socializing will only bloat the corpse further.

Automation comes regardless. You can't seriously believe GM wouldn't buy robots that works faster, with higher precision and longer hours than people if the workers took a pay cut.
