Who do you guys think is the better of the young American heavyweights? I thought Johnson looked very good last night on FNF.

i think johnson has the ability to improve more he is a very slick fighter but not ready for klits at all..arreola may be better at this point in time but i dont see a long successful future for chris..on the other hand kj doesnt have much power but i havent seen much of him so im going on what i saw last night

Johnson looks like he takes his conditioning a little more seriously than Arreola, but that is the only advatage I'll give him. Arreola hits harder and has a more crowd pleasing style, if only the fatty would just come into a a fight in better condition it would make him alot more money in endorsement deals.

that was my first Johnson fight ive watched. didnt know too much about his opponent. from what i saw it does seem like Arreola is the more crowd pleasing fighter

They both disappoint me every time I see them =(

I like Johnson better, but I think Arreola will get more big chances due to his style. I hope I'm wrong, I think Johnson might be a little better, and would possibly win if they fought. It's close, though.

Both suck IMO. At least Shrek be semi-exciting.

I didn't catch last night's fight with Johnson, but he has traditionally been a weak handed, jab machine.

Arreola beats Johnson me thinks. If only Arreola would do some roadwork and not follow the James Toney diet, hmmm.....

Yeah it is annoying that he doesn't take his conditioning seriously

Saying Johnson doesn't have much power isn't entirely true.
He stated that he wasn't going for knockouts early on.
Prior to his fight with Seldon he stated something along the lines of "fans want KOs, I'll give them KOs". And he has gone forward and TKOd each of his last three opponents.

He hits very clean and has more than just a jab. He keeps that right-straight ready to counter all day. And he used it effectively against Vargas.
I can't comment on KJ's chin, but he is good at blocking and moving his upper body to avoid shots.

I give the advantage to KJ.
I'll be impressed with Arreola if he takes that fight.
I'd say I don't see it happening because of that reason, but Arreola might be forced in that direction.

I thought Johnson only looked good when he had his way. When Vargas took his jab away, he seemed kind of clueless. I thought he looked terrible at time in that fight.

Arreola's defense is not so great and Johnson seems to be a good finisher once he has you in trouble. Has Kevin Johnson ever been hurt or dropped?

I like this prediction.
Arreola does leave himself open for clean shots.
I could see KJ connecting with a hard right that wobbles Arreola. KJ showed decent motivation to finish too. He snuck that left hook in quite a few times against Vargas.

I'd say that maybe Arreola would catch KJ with an uppercut while he's trying to roll with shots, but I can't think of KJ actually bending forward at the waist allowing for that possibility. He seems pretty smart as to where to move his body. Not that he doesn't get hit while doing.... just not doing something as dumb as bending/leaning forward against a guy who's throwing flurries.

^^^

I see Chris smothering Johnson, Johnson wouldn't land a thing because Arreola wouldn't gas after 3 rounds like Vargas did.

I thought Vargas was doing well early in that fight up until he slowed down.

The first knockdown was bogus.

But Vargas was slowing because of Johnson's shots as well.
Johnson was timing his with his right. When Vargas missed Johnson came right back with a right straight. I could see many opportunities to do that with Arreola.

thank god, thought i was the only one who saw this, when his jab got going; he kept vargas outside, was picking him apart and then would open up for the heavy artillery. But when vargas was able to smother it or when he would punch w/johnson, he was beating him to the punch, stopping his forward progress and getting the better of the exchanges. imo

johnson might have some pop; but not as much as he thinks cus he hit vargas w/alot of flush shots and didn't knock him clean out or put him in a position to just be stopped cus he did soo much damage. So either vargas has a hell of a chin or johnson power is overrated; if arreola got to him like that i think he puts him away in half the time, that being said arreola jab and his conditioning isn't as good as johnson so he wouldn't look stellar either. But i think he would have truly closed the show

I actually thought that fight showed KJ is NOT good at finishing opponents. He let Vargas off the hook many times and he only got the tko because Vargas' corner threw in the towel. I agree with Seano that Arreola would smother KJ and wouldnt gas nearly as bad as Vargas.
