Ken Shamrock on the problems with banning TRT, Owen Hart's Death, Dana White

Shamrock is just mad that Triple H buried him.

Hunter wasn't even in that match! lol

The nasty boys jumped him in a hotel room. Beat him with a phone or something, can't remember the details exactly but they fucked him up I believe.

What happened, IIRC, was this; during Ken's early wrestling career, before the UFC, before Pancrase, in the late 80's or early 90's, he and some friends ran into his co-workers, the Nasty Boys, at a bar. They Nasties had/have reputations for being troublemaking assholes, but when you look at the stories you tend to notice a trend; Brian Knobs running his mouth and Jerry Sags doing all the dirty work.

There are many different versions of this story told, but the two most important are the Nasty Boys' and Shamrock's version, so I'm going to go with those.

According to both stories, Knobs starting running his mouth off about a woman at the bar. According to Shamrock, it was the wife of a friend; according to Knobs, he thought Shamrock himself was dating the girl. Shamrock demanded an apology on the spot, Knobs piefaced him, the Nasties left, and Shamrock stewed. Ken later went to their hotel room and angrily pounded on the door. Sags answered. Here is where the two stories diverge.

According to Shammy, he pushed past Sags and started yelling at both of them. He admits to have no recollection of anything that happened after that, but claims to have heard that Sags cold cocked him from behind with a phone and, thereafter, both of the Nasty Boys laid the boots into him.

According to the Nasties, he pushed past Sags and immediately jumped on an unconscious Knobs, pounding his face in until Sags blindsided him (no weapon). The Nasties both claim that Knobs was passed out the whole time, even while Shammy was pounding on him, and that Sags doled out the entire shit-kicking on his own.

The stories converge again where Shammy was left a blood soaked, unconscious mess and was apparently hospitalized for some time as a result of the attack. According to fellow wrestlers who burst onto the scene toward the end of the fracas (and neither Shamrock nor the Nasties have ever confirmed this), Sags (or both Nasties) had to be talked out of throwing the unconscious Shamrock off their balcony onto the sidewalk below.

Personally, I'm more inclined to believe the Nasties version of events. Knobs admits to being a drunken jerk here and instigating at the bar, but also describes being entirely wasted and being carried out of the bar by Sags and another wrestler and passing out as soon as they made it back to their hotel room. He also claims to have no recollection of the entire attack, as he was unconscious during it. Knobs admits to blindsiding Shamrock, but only because he was beating the shit out of Knobs, and denies the use of a weapon.

Shamrock denies having attacked Knobs, but his story of pushing past Sags to yell at an unconscious Knobs doesn't make any sense, and additionally, fellow wrestlers reported Knobs to have a black eye and some swelling around his face consistent with the Nasties version of the story. The most questionable part of the story is whether Knobs woke up and, angry from his beating, joined in on the attack. It's entirely possible given the scenario, but the beating Ken received is equally possible from Sags alone.

Keep in mind this was a much smaller Ken than the one who later became a "pharmaceutical-grade superhero", one who was a tough guy, but far from the highly trained martial artist he later became. Basically it boils down to a drunken brawl between two high level street-fighters. Sags had a massive size advantage as well as the advantage of the blind side attack, by his own admission. Is there any doubt he would have gotten the better of a then untrained Shamrock given the scenario?

As always, the truth is generally somewhere in the middle. I would say that Ken probably forced his way in shouting and yelling, maybe started beating on Knobs and was then hit from behind by the phone, was dazed, and then got beat down hard by Sags. It seems like the version that would make most sense. I mean, a rabbit punch could have disoriented him the same way, but I would imagine if a violent street-fighter saw his friend getting beat up, he would grab the nearest object to beat him over the head with rather than just jumping in with fists, it's a natural reaction.

But seriously, whatever lol. All parties fucked up, let's be fair.

Lol first thing is him whining about not getting credit

I'll also add that this type of story is pretty typical for the Nasty Boys. Ric Flair shares a similar story in his book. They were all partying in a bar and one of Ric's friends, an exec for a toy company, starts goofing around and cutting a wrestling promo. The Nasties decide to fuck around with the guy and pull off his sunglasses and stomp them, then rip the guy's suit off. It seems Knobs wasn't satisfied and continues riding the guy, so Flair interjected, telling Knobs to back off. Knobs snarls back at him and tells him to fuck off, so Flair slaps him around. Sags, who by this point was about ten feet away shooting the shit with Vince and some wrestlers, immediately dives onto Flair and busts him good in the eye.

To this day Ric is still pissed that he was kicked out of the bar and the Nasties weren't.

Not gonna listen to an old, bitter man reminisce. Plus, he shits on Triple H all the time. The Game is the fucking man and a way better professional wrestler than Shammy ever was.

lol...
A UFC mma pioneer and title holder>>>>> rassling wwf titles...

get a grip kid, for fucks sake..

Without guys like Ken there wouldn't have been anything for Zuffa to buy. The real fans give Ken the credit he deserves. The zuffa shills will continue to dislike anyone Dana tells them to like.

Kid? I bet I'm older than you are. Triple H is a "slightly" more intelligent human being than Ken Shamrock, and way more accomplished. Glad you turned this into a UFC>WWE argument. Original.
