kelvin looked awful

Against a very average opponent. done nothing with his takedowns, had zero pop on his punches. The commentary team were talking horse shit the entire fight. I worry for Kelvin on this performance
I get where you're coming from in the sense that his striking didn't look that great, but to be fair his wrestling, which usually has been a problem for him, was for a large part of that fight on point.

I wasn’t impressed by his performance, Heinisch was a step down from his other opponents and he didn’t look great. I really wish he would get a nutritionist and try to make one more run at 170

I don't think he looked bad at all. He looked pretty good in there imo.

His body looks awful, like a random person off the street, while the other guy was a ball of muscle and much larger. Even DC was far more muscular under his body fat. It seems like he does not even do any weights at all. Won't get far like that fighting bigger guys.

impressive to beat heinisch at his own game, but yeah his punches didn't look great to me

He's a really good fighter, he just lacks discipline in weight cutting. He should not be at middleweight, at all. He'd be a huge threat at 170lbs if he could keep the weight in check. I get that he's a husky dude, but he was outsized immensely in this last fight.

Lmao, imagine saying a guy who's been a top ten fighter for years, and gave the current champ the hardest fight of his career, "won't get far". <Lmaoo>

I like Kelvin but this showing was nothing at all like the guy who fought Izzy

come on man, you know he's going to go home and open this thread

Tbf I don't see Gastelum reaching those heights at MW again, hard to see him back in the title weight picture any time soon imo. Would be far more interested in him taking his nutrition seriously and giving WW a serious crack.

He fought well and smart...

He got the win

He should really consider a move to 170lbs again though... But do it properly this time...get his walking around weight down to 182-185 ..

Hed go far at 170lbs IMO

Right but I get it he needed a W badly and Id play it safe too if I was in his position. His job was on the line today.
Exactly, kelvins main goal tonight was just to secure the W

I thought his hands weren't as sharp as we've seen from Kelvin before but I think he prepared to wrestle this camp and I thought it was a nice bounce back win for him. Sometimes you just need to snatch a W to get back some momentum again and that's what he did tonight.
