Kelvin Gastelum vs Darren Till & Frankie Edgar vs Aljamain Sterling in the works for UFC 244 MSG

Damn. They're throwing Frankie the number one contender right off the bat if that's true.
Psh. Sterling is fucking overrated. I'd put Moraes, Assuncao, and Yan ahead of him.

Frankie is gonna maul him worse than Yair. And Yair would murder Sterling.

Nice fights. I hope Yan fights the winner of Assuncao vs. Sandhagen.

I don't necessarily degree with your opinion, but in reality I think Sterling is pretty clearly the next in line for a title shot, so I'm surprised they're giving him to Edgar. I'm not complaining, though, because I'm an edgar fan and this will put him in a great position if he wins. I'm not convinced that this fight actually happens, though.

Id rather see Till take a level down from KG , he just got smoked twice. 3 would be an absolute killer.

Same, if he's moving up to MW he needs a warm up fight or 2 at the weight. I dont think he's ready for the pressure/power KG brings right now.

So I guess Assuncao just lost, so that changes the situation. I really did not see that coming.

Now I'd say Sterling and Yan are the only clear people deserving a title shot. I'd like to see Sterling vs Yan... I agree with you that Edgar shouldn't get the #1 contender shot right away.

Serra must hate this one. He's with Aljo 100%, but he talks about Frankie like he's a teammate.

Yeah. As good as Sterling is, he's not a guy who I'd worry about really testing Frankie's chin after his first weight cut to 135lbs. I'd rather that be a five rounder, though.
If Frankie wins does he get another title shot? how does Marlon feel about this? I'm sure they discussed this but I'm sure Marlon in the back of his mind must not like it.

I don't know. I doubt Marlon is getting to worked up over it. Everyone know's that frankie's time is limited at this point. Also, Frankie said he'd step aside if there's conflict between him and Marlon getting a TS.

Marlon isn't getting another title shot any time soon

Joe B
Aljo
Yan
Sandhagen
Faber
Edgar
Aldo

All are ahead of him.

Lol what do they have against Till? I guess one could look at it differently, they're giving him the opportunity to make a huge come back, but Gastelum is definitely not the match-up I had in mind.

Edgar vs Sterling?
battle of the point fighting specialists

Sterling vs Yan for the interim title would make much more sense
Sandhagen has as good a claim to that spot at Yan, if not better. Assuncao is better than anyone Yan has fought.

Seems like preferential treatment for Frankie, getting a fight like that right away. Not complaining, I suppose he's earned it. It's a long shot for him to go on a run at 135 at this point in his career.

They love Frankie. He'll get another title shot if he wins. He didn't deserve his last one and he doesn't deserve the number 1 contenter fight.

Talk about tough fights to welcome you to a division. Gastelum is a nightmare match up for till while sterling is a trial by fire for Edgar. Would have preferred till against someone like dave branch and Edgar vs rivera

Not an easy fight for Till but he's looking so much better at this weight class and it could be a good thing for him, I wouldn't want to write him off.

Kenny Florian nails it here

Sometimes we have to let them find their feet in the new weight class too, so give Till a couple of fights first before we write him off.
