Karate Kid at the All Valley BJJ Championships

Hahahahaha! That's so hilarious!

How time change. Back in the 80's, martial arts was all about that karate kid bullshit mcdojo crap. Every kid trying to be like a dumb ass Ninja Turtle. Thank goodness for the UFC. Otherwise, our next generation are still doing that taekwondo/karate mcdojo bullshit.

After a 3 hour Saturday morning session of boxing, kickboxing and no-gi, I like to enjoy some pizza in honor of the TMNT. And I ain't ashamed to say that.

My first tournament I got slammed 3 times in a row onto my back rampage style by some douche sandbagging wrestler trying to break my guard.

No deduction
No DQ

In fact, the ref didn't even do anything until I looked at him after the third slam and said "what the *uck are you doing ref?, he's slamming me" calls time, moves us to the center of the ring and puts him into my guard. Hurt my back for weeks, couldn't even compete in my Gi matches.

I don't understand how you can train for a comp, drive there, pay an entry fee and make no effort to understand basic rules.

What was wrong with the last? He brought him down slowly to position.

In Karate Kid when Daniel fights that kid on the soccer field he hits hit with a double leg and some ground and pound. Should have joined the wrestling team.

Nah... he got DQ'd. I was wondering for what, too. Did he flee the mat?

Ah, you're right. Yes, fleeing the mat while in a submission (except rolling with a footlock, I think is a dq).

It's still around. Almost every mall here has a karate/TKD school in it full of 11 year old black belts and all the usual McDojo BS.

That video definitely exposes one of the serious holes in the competitive grappling rule set. Those guillotines and triangles in which there is no posture/positional control are NOT effective sub attempts, and once the bottom guy is lifted into those high-risk positions, the ref should stop the match, make a 'potentially dangerous' call, and restart the competitors standing WITHOUT points or advantages awarded.
