Has anyone hear trained in it? Any good?

It's a mixture of Karate,Judo,JJ,Kenpo,Chinese Boxing. and thats how it got its name

The KA stands for the Korean Tang-So-Do Karate contributed by co-founder Peter Choo.

The JU stands for the Kodokan Judo contributed by co-founder Joe Holck and the Ju-Jitsu contributed by by co-founder Frank Ordonez.

The KEN stands for the Kenpo Karate contributed by Sijo Emperado, who also has an extensive background in Escrima, the art of Filipino stick-fighting.

The BO stands for the Chinese Boxing or Kung Fu contributed by co-founder Clarence Chang.

Kajukenbo

Hawian MA's seem to work for Chuck Liddell and everyone at SLO Kickboxing/The Pit.

The Pit's website says they MA is based on Kajukenbo.

I found this video.

Have you ever trained in it?
How long will it take for a black belt?
Effective in mma?

Haven't trained but have alot of friends who train in it..
Kajukenbo in MMA effective.. depends on the individual..

Is Kajukenbo MMA effective?

Gee I don't know...but doesn't Chuck Liddell train Kajukenbo? :-)

Does it focus more on the MMA side or hte knife defense stuff(not really interested in that stuff)

Take the kickboxing class.

I have a black belt in Kajukenbo from the HKA, one of the oldest Kajukenbo schools in existence.

Honestly, It's more a self-defense thing, basically how to beat the shit out of the average street walking joe with the least emount of effort.

Keyword "effort", it's not much of a workout, lol. Similar to Krav Maga haha.

If you are into combat sports however, take the kickboxing class for sure.

That being said, i quit when i was 15 and have long since been practicing Muay Thai & Boxing.

Thanks i watched Fight Quest and alot seemd pretty good like it would work in MMA.
YouTube - Fight Quest: Kajukenbo Kicks
YouTube - Kajukenbo on fight quest
YouTube - Kajukenbo: Bay area Mornings on 2

but some of it seems like all that Kata,Ninjutsu crap,
YouTube - Kajukenbo Kata - Limpo

and i dont think this slapping the wrist away would work in a fight even against an average joe.
YouTube - Kingi Kajukenbo (Old School)

It May just depend on the School though but i think im going to do the Boxing/Kickboxing and the Kajukenbo class since i have alot of free time.

It seems like you did your homework LONG before you made this thread.

Are you just looking for feedback or verification?

The lady is right.
A Kaju school not cutting corners to pay the light bill is a very dificult place to train and the school I grew up in works your guts out .You are expected to take a beating as well as dish one out .
Sad to say it is like any other system it has unrecognized schools claiming to be acredited that are not .
The required movements are very good but the incidentals and what if combinations are excellent. And it is a evolving system and very adaptive continuing to change.
I have spent 40 years in the Gaylord method . and crossed traing as is expected . The tenascity instilled by learning Kaju has kept me in Kajukenbo.
Mauy Thai (kick Boxing) is very aggresive as well and Kali a visious art is great for the street.( which is included in Kaju from Emperado)
You need to pick the system that is right for you and that you can handle .
I just teamed up with some BJJ people to team teach in my school . Because they offer a different less violent learning enviroment and I dont turn people away . I rather they learn and are happy and gaining abilities.

It does sound like pretty solid training, but I think that if one were going to create a new branch of the martial arts, one should probably come up with a name less easy to make fun of than the Gaylord method.

Sounds deadly.

Is it anything like this?
