Media Justin Jaynes is betting his entire fight purse on himself this weekend

He only wins by early KO/TKO, Rosa never been finished early. Rooting for Jaynes but Rosa probably wins a late stoppage or decision.

Jaynes by round 1 ko/tko probably has good odds though, hopefully that's his bet.

This seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

I hope the guy has money saved. He might be cut if he loses.

Doesn't he still have to pay taxes on it if he loses? Eessh....

Probably pageantry on his part. He’s trying to build up significance to his otherwise unimportant blip of a matchup and mask the fact that he’s on a losing streak. Some fanfare and an exciting finish with this betting storyline might get him another contract. Of course, that requires an armada of ducks to line themselves up out of pity and I doubt it will end well for Justin.

I'll be rooting against him just because of the tragic comedy that would result from it all, no hard feelings against the dude.

If he losses not only is he getting no money but he's getting cut

I think this will affect his fighting.
He would probably perform better without adding that pressure on himself.
But hey...maybe I am wrong.
A sense of urgency never hurt a fight. Hell more fighters need to fight with a sense of energy.

Oh god his nickname is "Guitar Hero", now I really hope he loses.

I've had a feeling that Ken Shamrock told his close friends/family to bet against him, and he threw fights so he'd make FAR more money losing than he would winning.

That's why he's 2-9 since 2002.

Same with Bob Sapp. He's 2-17 since 2009, including a 14 fight losing streak.

I'd agree except for the "that's why their recent record is bad" part. Plus both those guys made more money than other guys on those cards for their name value and wins instead of losses would up the pay even more. For them, I think it was as simple as cash in on the name-value that I've earned, I don't have to wreck myself(or put any effort/cost) into training/preparing if I don't want to, and at the second of danger or I'm too gassed or I feel my body breaking down I can fall to the mat or tap.

Perhaps on fight night but it sounds like he could be as confident and feeling as good as ever heading into a fight. Or he has some huge urgent debt hanging over his head in which case he would likely be affected/anxious or w/e going into the fight bet or no bet.

He's putting his feet down and nuts on the counter. Let's see how it works out for him.

Ive seen this comment often about various lesser known fighters . . . on the FB mma forums.
Should I know who he is??

aounds like a cheap porn star name.

They're the biggest names on the card so they negotiate for all show-up money with no win bonus.

No incentive to train hard and try to win.

And... as I mentioned they basically arrange their friends and distant family to make big bets on their opponents and give them a share of the winnings in cash.

That's my gut feeling anyway. No evidence whatsoever to back it up.
