Honestly though this is really the flaw in the whole "nice guy's finish last" mindset to me, so called "nice guys" who are really just on the lookout for sex and think faking friendship is going to be an easy path to it. Most women of any intelligence will see though this and react negatively to such a dishonest approach moreso than they would something more open even if its cruder.

I can't say I agree with the OP, I'v had female friends I'm not greatly attracted to as well as those I have been.

Yep. Although I think there can be a shocking ignorance or obliviousness on the part of some (attractive) women that all these guys are genuinely on the lookout for platonic female companionship. Most guys I know don't collect a bunch of friends to pad their egos and salve their boredom.
