I'm a big AKA fan and am fully supporting Rockhold but I think he has a really really tough task ahead of him.
I feel Weidman has an advantage in the clinch and wrestling and he will try to turn it into a dog fight but will probably keep it standing unless he sees a clear opening for a sub. Taking Rockhold to the ground really does not pay: his scrambles are just phenomenal and what seems to be an a disadvantageous takedown could quickly be overturned into a dominating position for the californian.
The striking department is a bit of a question mark: Luke has better kicks and maybe better technique overall but I feel Weidman is probably slickier and can catch you with unexpected shots, whilst Rockhold is probably more traditional and therefore predictable. Above all Chris has a steel chin (prolly one of the best we've seen) and nothing seems to really rock him, let alone put him away. Rockhold, on the other hand, has a fine chin but I think he doesn't absorb punishment very well.
Overall I think it's a 50/50 really with Weidman having a better chance the longer the fight goes on. Whils I think Luke has the grappling and jits to get an early sub
Very excited for this next fight. What's your opinion?
