Now consider that Frankie is better than Chad at everything. Now consider the fact that Frankie won't gas.

The fact that Edgar is fighting an Aldo encumbered by the ever-present McGregor that resides rent free within his dome, may mean we see an outcome entirely different from their first fight - in Frankie's favor.

Time will tell.

That fight was soo long ago (4 years?) You're better off comparing recent fights where edgar has dominated

If anything, that fight is exactly why I give Edgar a chance against anyone.

I'm definitely interested to see how things go, but lets face it Connor connected on Mendes and it was lights out, Connected on Aldo and it was lights out. If Edgar doesn't lay on him its not going to be good for him in my opinion, but who knows.

Frankie Edgar is a lot like Dan Henderson in that sense. He's been luckier though obviously as Hendo has been stopped early i.e. Mousasi despite Hendo being fine. (Obviously Vitor stoned him twice though but Vitor is a killer). Other examples of guys who are like 99% out and regularly come back also include Eddie Alvarez actually, couple of his Bellator fights hes been flash ko'd in the first minute hard and come back.

Also Nick Diaz was faceplanted twice just eating shots against Daley and the one time it definitely could have been stopped. Would have really de-railed his hype train

Certain refs are better than others in this regard. Diaz getting stopped against Daley, Edgar getting stopped against Maynard, .etc would have changed the landscape of their respective divisions at the time

Bingo. Frankie is a nightmare matchup for Conor. However, it doesn't seem likely that they'll ever actually fight. Styles make fights, and Frankie probably loses to Aldo again. Even if Frankie beats Aldo, I suspect that we've seen the last of Conor at 145.

You may not like Mcgregor but give the guy credit. His performance in the cage has been respectable:

Knocked out champ Aldo rd. 1
Knocked out Mendes rd. 2
Knocked out Poirier rd. 1
Knocked out Brandao rd. 1
Dominated Holloway.

These are all top ranked guys. Emotions and intelligent posting do not mix.

Knocked out Brandao rd. 1( brando was never a top guy)

Its less about his abilities and more about his lack of willingness to understand where he sucks. He drank his own koolaid and then threw it up.

OK, you agree he dominated 4 top guys in his division; Aldo, Mendes, Poirier and Holloway. Regardless of the circumstances, he dominated 4 top guys in his division, including knocking out the champ in record time. These are indisputable facts that should establish that he is one of the very best in the division.

They are not all top ranked guys. Brandao has never been more than a fringe top ten fighter at best. Holloway was what, 20 years old? He wasn't ranked anywhere near the top 10 when Conor fought him. Poirier, Mendes, and Aldo were all top fighters.

At the end of the day the Mendes win is still a great win, despite the short notice thing. Mendes felt he was capable of competing and winning. Anytime someone shows up and gets in the cage, that's when they should leave excuses at the door. I say this as someone who thoroughly dislikes Conor's whole persona(lity).
