Watching some old fights of Max on fight pass and I totally forgot about this one so I decided to rewatch it. Totally forgot this was on UFC 194 the same card as Conor vs Aldo. Looking at that card I totally forgot how STACKED that PPV was. Has the UFC put out a PPV even close to as stacked to that one since then?

I honestly don't think so. That main card is ridiculous AND the WW GOAT Covington on the prelims?? That's insane!!(kidding, kidding)

I also think its kind of funny that Max still has not lost since that night and Conor has lost twice. I'm a huge Conor fan I'm not hating I just think its interesting because the Conor buzz was through the roof after that KO of Aldo.

Anyways it wasn't the most exciting fight but I was super impressed with how Max broke down Jeremy Stephens with his movement. Jeremy looked pretty tired after the first round and Max pushed hard the whole 3 rounds. Literally the only strikes Jeremy could land the whole fight were leg kicks but Max ate all of them and made Jeremy pay for it almost every time he threw.

Max was switching his stance a lot and was countering Jeremy with lead right hands throughout the whole fight. Max also made Jeremy turn into a bit of a panic wrestler and stopped every single shot. I think he was something like 6/6 on takedown defense and Max actually took Jeremy down in the 3rd round and had some pretty good shots landed on the ground and ground control. A clear 30-27 impressive victory for the (now) 145lb champion Max Holloway

I don't have much of a point to this thread I just wanted to share since I had completely forgotten about this fight and I'm sure a lot of you have too. Pumped for Max vs Dustin this weekend!!!

you know it's a stacked card when urijah faber is on the prelims

What's more impressive about Max's win streak is that if you watch all of his fights during that time, none of those fights were even close. Max either stopped his opponents or cruised to a UD.

Max is an all-time great already.

Cards become more stacked in hindsight, but this was an incredible card.

That was probably the most boring McGregor card of all time. For some reason his cards are always incredible.

189, 202, 205, etc. They all seem to deliver. And 194 was sooo good on paper but was ridiculously flat until the main event.

Hard to see Holloway vs Poirier being a bad fight, both guys bring it!

I actually went to that fight and forgot Max was on the card. What a moment that was when Conor won.

Yup that was a very good card, I remember it well.

You're crazy. Jacare/Romero and Weidman/Rockhold were really good fights. And Maia steamrolled Gunnar.

Back when the UFC knew what they was doing and didnt just throw shit on cards

Colby and Lee got finished, Maia destroyed overrated Gunnar and Jacare Vs Yoel was great

Longest Active UFC win streak (I think)
Youngest UFC FW Champion
Most wins in UFC FW history
Most finish in UFC FW history (I think)
Most sig strikes landed in a fight
Most Of The Night awards in UFC FW history (I think)
Only fighter to have 2 wins over the longest reigning, most dominant champ in FW history.
Highest TDD% currently at FW (I think)

McGregor’s cards were always incredible because the UFC always stacked his cards. It served two purposes; make the card sell even better, thus making your star that much bigger, and shine a light on some of the other fighters you believe can be stars. I just wish they would have applied some of that marketing to some of their other champions.

“Stardom” can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Promote the shit out of someone because you think they have what it takes, “Wow, we were right!” Don’t promote, or even actively tear down someone because you feel they won’t sell, “Wow, we were right again!”

It was a little overrated card only cause Conor was on it
