It seems like Diaz implemented his reach VERY well in this fight. Though it's a 10 day fight camp for Diaz, do you see him utilizing a similar game plan with McGregor? Do you think CM will overcome Nate's reach advantage? Michael Johnson is listed at 5'10 and it seemed like he was swinging/missing a lot in this fight. Seeing how Conor is used to fighting shorter men, do you think his rangey-style will work as well against Diaz?

A few things to note:
-Johnson is a lot more tense than Mcgregor, but he seems to move a lot more.
-Johnson's stance is very tall, vs CM's Karate stance.
-The only time Diaz got cracked against Johnson is when he sat in the pocket - this could be very dangerous for Nate against CM
-Nate seemed a lot lighter on his feet than usual in this fight
-Nate puts his hands down A LOT

Thoughts?

i was very proud of myself betting diaz in this fight.

he still gets smoked by mcgregor though

This was a fight I was worried for Nate in, due to Johnson's wrestling, and improving kick boxing.

But Nate showed up way better than he'd looked before. His foot work looked much improved, his conditioning was obvious, but the game plan was the same as always: Frustrate them in the stand up, until they over extend, or go for the take down.

Can Nate do this against CM Goat? Yes. But I see this being a good fight, where Connor walks Diaz into his left hand, while stabbing Nate's gas tank. If Connor tries leg kicks, I hope Diaz hooks him for his trouble.

Connor by superior athleticism, due to having an actual training camp. But this will be a fight, and we will get to see Connor fight against a guy that is very hard to finish.

Glad Nate is finally getting his pay day.

I thought it was a good performance by Diaz considering he'd being off a year. Not sure I'd agree that 'Diaz looked lighter on his feet more than normal'

I thought it was a classic Diaz type of (winning performance - with the extra mocking) looked decent on the front foot, but he over extended on a few shots and got countered by Johnson before he started to get flustered and got in more of a brawl with him. Johnson was doing okay in the first round and mid-late in the third, IIRC.

I can see Conor coming in at different angles, using his footwork, not letting Diaz re-set and just blowing him away if it stays standing. I think Diaz will try take it to the ground and hope to get a quick sub.

Connor is leagues above mj in terms of striking technique. And nate fucked with him mentally so much.

Expect to see conor using lots of teeps to nates lead leg before exploding in and making nate defend high kicks and spin kicks.

Bro it's a silent agreement that "CM" is reserved for CM Punk. It's confusing.

Diaz is not a joke. I didnt watch his last fight, i guess i will now.

Nate might try to work his way in and toss/trip Conor, see if he can't get him to the ground or create some scrambles. Just doesn't seem like it will be a good night for Nate if he stands and trades like he did with MJ

MJ 's standup game is more of a boxer who throws a kick every now and then. Connor has a pretty developed kicking game setup/compliment his hands. So I don't think Nate's reach advantage will play out the same way it did during his last fight.

That being said, Nate Diaz is a tough SOB who usually has a ridiculous gas tank (maybe not so much this time via no training camp though) and he's usually pretty happy to take a hit in order to give one back. This could play heavily in his favor if the fight goes into the later rounds.

Johnson's box isnt in the same universe and Conu's.

Most guys on sherdog seriously dont even understand what theyre seeing.

Johnson's defense and angles and countering cant make Conu's box a sandwich.
