The physical standard ought to be by role. If you want to be infantry, then you have to pass their test. If you want to be a SEAL, then you have to pass their test. If you're going to be a desk jockey, perhaps the standards should be lower. I don't want to turn away capable people, but they have to be in a role they are physically suited for.
Ofc should depend from role and position.
For example, for a lot of professions interest + education plus long term continued education plus experience are ....mandatory in real life.
I don't think that you will be concerned about race or age or gender for someone who ensures that you do have water supply, communications and drone, tank in ....working condition.
There will be yes or ....no. this.
Or jobs where you should be precise enough ( but later we will talk in details a bit ) umder stress and after huge physical workload in lesser predictable situations....
You most likely will not have precision like world championship medalist in tournament but you should be able to do job...
However maybe you are specialist with experience to repair tanks, operate drones, repair electronics etc etc.
Why not.
During WW2 teenage girls and boys had been used in ammo and chemical factories, 60+ uncles repaired technique etc too....this worked.
Appears that worked well.
Especially in cases with real wartime economy : you are student in essential field, so ....learn plus do job in spare time ( mandatory )..the same medicine, chemistry, engineering etc... work what is needed and learn. Don't count hours....
Yes, with underage kids in chemical and ammo factories and mining industry too.
It worked pretty well in the end of game.
All society for wartime economy.
This is our history reality.
