Your only mistake was not taking the 1000 out so you were playing with house money.

I feel like you're coming away with the wrong lessons.S
To all of your betters and gamblers out there, never, EVER make the same 3 mistakes that I made.
Never, ever get too greedy (mistake 1).
Never, ever place 50% of your account's capital on a single bet (mistake 2).
Never, ever place 99% of your account's capital on a single bet (mistake 3).
My maternal grandfather called the lottery the "idiot tax".Gambling is a tax for people who are bad at math
Don't bet if you can't control yourself
Sup ya'll. Need to get this off my chest. Sorry if this isn't the right place.
Anyways, couple months ago, I put $1000 in my BET365 account. Over the coming weeks, I managed to turn that 1k into 4.5k, mainly betting on sports such as NBA, UFC and volleyball.
Today however, I felt exceptionally greedy for some reason (mistake #1) and decided to place a 2k parlay (mistake #2) on a series of matches I felt confident in. That however, didn't work out and I ended up losing $2000. I couldn't bear seeing my account balance down all the way to 2.5k, and so I placed more bets throughout the day that I felt confident in. Long story short, I managed to recover the 2k that I lost. That's right, I made up the 2k and had my account back up to 4.5k, where I started the day off at. I was feeling relieved and was about to call it quits for the evening.
However, a very greedy part of my being convinced me to place one more parlay, just so I could ride the hot streak that I was currently on and end the day over the 5k mark. So I put in 4.5k (mistake #3) on a 4 match parlay, 3 of which ended up winning, with the 4th one losing to a buzzer beating 3 point shot (Euroleague).
Before I knew it, I had lost $4500 in a blink of an eye.

I got too cocky, I got too stubborn, I got too confident, and I lost everything in my account.
To end things, I just want to say that I only put $1000 in originally, and I did not plan to ever see this money again. So if shit hit the bed (and it did) I wouldn't be overly disappointed about it (I still am, however). The $1000 that I put in I could afford to lose - my finances are solid and I'm not hurting financially because of this loss as I never was expecting it to help me in the first place. Still however, it just hurts a bit knowing I made a few G's only to lose it all in a blink of an eye. I could have had a lot of fun with a few thousand dollars..
I have a total of $20.81 left in my betting account, and I don't plan on adding anymore for at least another 365 days.
LIVE BY THE GAMBLE. DIE BY THE GAMBLE.
I got Ravens winning over KC.
Put another $4500 on KC this week at +3.5.
It’s a lock.
$9000 in your account ain’t bad.
Then make a Mystic Magua appreciation thread.

I've always said that they don't build casinos with the money people win in them.
If you absolutely have to bet, then you should have an clear-cut strategy that you never deviate from. Much like strategy for trading. Its all about probability, psychology and place a small percentage of your total to minimize risk.
