Theres still the problem of so called friends that i dont wnt to invite but I know theyll be well pissed off with me if I dont invite the pricks. Dunno what ill do bout them

#1 - Set a budget (and make a pact to stick to it)

That then sets the parameters for all the planning. Ok, you want big church wedding? Well, that costs X quid. Then we can only spend Y quid on food, or instead maybe not hire a band if we're gonna keep to our budget. etc. etc.

#2 - DIY or have friends/family help.

That way you spend less money on hiring pros. We did a lot ourselves and a friend made the cake, another made the dress, another did the photos, others played music. That way we could afford really good food and lots of quality booze.
