You'll get it sooner or later, just keep on using the rope, its the best warmup there is.

Just keep on practising it, with time itll get better.

Its always the same development with people new to skipping:

    1) Jumping high on both feet, slow rope movement

    2) Jumping faster and not as high, jump comes gradually more from calfs and less from quads, making it faster and more intense on arms.

    3) Fast and low skipping with rythem, on one foot and other stuff

I cant stand skipping man. My knees wear and legs wear out long, long before my cardio does.

It really isn't that hard. In the beginning it feels hard but just keep practising it and it'll flow...I find it pretty easy. Relax when you skip ropes.

There are a few sites and instructionals out there. Watch some fighters and try to mimic. But keep practicing.

I had the same problem when I started. I've now been training in boxing and Muay Thai for 4 years and can do every trick a boxer can with the jump rope. Hard work and perserverance is all it takes.

Try using a speed rope, and make sure it is the proper length. The Buddy Lee ropes are great, but kinda pricey. I found it lot easier to learn the different techniques, then with a heavier slower rope.
