Well here's the situation, just to make it clear Im not trying to start a judo vs wrestling thread... i just want your help to make up my mind,,im from mexico i started bjj at 15 i was there for 8 months but stoped practicin g because of a shoulder surgery & now im back after 1 year without tranning ive been back for like 2 months.
So apart from my bjj trainning (Monday, Wendsay, Friday & Saturday) im going to start on wrestling or judo. I really like how judo goes with my bjj as it also have submissions & it also has good takedowns & gives me a kind of really great balance. As for wrestling also has the takedowns, Also really good positioning & it will give me quickness and strengh (i lack of both) As i will love just to do bjj i cant say i dont want to go into mma so i will realy apreciate your opinion coz ive been tryin g to make my min d for a long time askin teachers & all that but stll cant.
Thnx & greetings

if you do want to do gi, then stick with judo

if you want to do nogi, then definitely wrestling

Decide what your goals are going to be and pick one. You know what you need depending on your goals.

Depends on the style of wrestling and your goals. Wrestling instruction and competition is pretty hard to find outside of high school, though, if that influences you in any way.

I'd say Judo because it's some thing you can do your whole life as opposed to just 4 years at most (not even that really, just 1 year spread out over 4 years divided into 4 sets of 3 months if that makes sense.).

EDIT: I should read. :p

If your goal is MMA, do BJJ or submission grappling. People talk sh*t about how BJJ sucks and they have no takedowns, but I learned how to do a single leg better in BJJ than I did in wrestling.

EDIT #2: Wow, I still didn't read. :p

Sorry. But still, just BJJ is good enough.

Lol well its still difficult.. ive got to admit i want to get at some pint pro at mma i just turned 17 the wrestling would be freestlye & some greco.

If your eventual goal is mma I'd say go for wrestling, it has better carry-over imo because it doesn't rely on the gi.

Whatever you can find that is close by, well priced and most importantly, quality instruction and quality students.

Judo (strong partners) > Wrestling (weak/few partners). And vice-versa.

The reason wrestlers do well in MMA is because of their work ethic and relentless attacks. Hard training makes hard fighters - so you go where the hard training is. That may not be wrestling near you, it may be judo.

well yes ivw got to check the quality, as theyre both on the same universty & both free thats not a problem as for the level and partners they say me they are almost the same so ill also chek that.

find a good BJJ school that doesnt shy away from doing a lot of takedowns. they are out there people just need to look a little better and not be closed minded to the idea of training takedowns. example:

BJJ Takedowns - RDCC
