Judo olympic bronze medalist gets into a fight in Brazil with a BJJ specialist working at a hotel

More proof that Brazil is one giant Thunderdome.

Yeah, you can walk into a bakery, say, 7AM, and be greeted by a local BJJ black-belt.

the article just says he got into a fight and received a black eye, how to we not know the hotel guy has 2 black eyes lol... Doesnt look like he got his " ass handed to him " to me just looks like he was in a fight.

Getting punched can give you a black eye. Remember the gas station fight in Brazil between Falcao and the skinny guy with the GF? Dude rocked Falcao with a punch. Falcao is a bjj BB, right? So I guess skinny street punkks > bjj black belts and pro-fighters? We don't know what happened, article is sketchy and stupid, feel bad for the guy trying to recover a stolen phone from bummy criminals, Judo guy looks like a dork, and a black eye means nothing.. If I walked up to Cain Velequez and punched him in the eye bare fisted, he would have a black eye.. We know what would then happen, but maybe somebody would be dumb enough to write an article saying I kicked his ass.

Also, what does bjj have to do with punching or black eyes? Very little.

Yeah, but how many points did the receptionist get? Judo guy is technically winning by penalty and is probably one Ippon away from total victory.

Where does it say that he submitted him , TS?
Submission in the sense that you subdue a ill-intended person, it doesn't have to be an armbar or a rear naked choke, nor needs a referee.

Maybe it would be better if I say "subdue", but I'm not sure on that as english is not my mother tongue.

I'll share a Brazil story. I was in downtown Rio, a place i never liked to go, but had better prices on equipment. Anyway, a fight broke out and I saw a 155lb boy execute a perfect flying switch kick in flip flops to the dome of a much larger man, clearing about 7' of street and curb to land it. Morale of the story: Don't pick fights in Rio... EVERYONE is at least a blue belt(which takes about 4 years to get there on average) and has some type of martial art training.

In Brazil they have a saying ' Give hespect, or lose your teeth '

Silly story. A lot is said for not much happening

I got your mother's tongue right here - judo > bjj all day every day in the streets

Yeah, that's what we learned when that judo guy tried to come over a BJJ hotel receptionist. LOL

But really, quit being salty baby, this whole comparison is beyond stupid, and you could never face me "in the streets", fighting is really not my sport, I shoot.
