Thet're not at all the same, whoever told you that is full of crap.
Judo, Bjj, Jiu-jitsu and Sambo all use the gi. Greco Roman and Freestyle wrestling use a singlet, or wrestler's uniform, think Kurt Angle from WWE.
Jiu-Jitsu: kicking, punching, wristlocks, takedowns; very little ground fighting
Judo: Olympic sport. Takedowns, no hitting at all, ground fighting with no leg attacks allowed.
BJJ: grappling art, MMA caliber submissions, no hitting, takedowns, leg attacks are allowed.
Greco Roman: Olympic sport. No gi , No hitting, you can only grab the opponents upper body. i.e. no shooting in.
Freestyle: same as above except you can grab the lower body, shooting is allowed.
