If not fighting for title I dont think there are too much especially at lighter weights
yeah right ufc shill
the UFC has their main event but they bolster that with big undercards
i don't care how good he is, no professional athlete is worth $100m dollars.
still, there are more divisions in boxing and 4 belts in each division. even if we only count up the champions - and i'd say most of them actually do make 1M per fight - that's still a lot more millionaires than in MMA. obviously not every belt holder gets that kind of money, but most champs are getting paid really well.If not fighting for title I dont think there are too much especially at lighter weights
nothing except a complete lack of regulation that allows the UFC to not only run a monopoly, but also serve as both promoter and sanctioning body.Nothing stopping MMA fighters, go get a promoter and promote your own events. All I am hearing is excuses.
Hey I am not a boxing fan and even I know those names,I also said a few fighters doing more than million just top guys for example 10 ranked LW guy makes a million in a fight???still, there are more divisions in boxing and 4 belts in each division. even if we only count up the champions - and i'd say most of them actually do make 1M per fight - that's still a lot more millionaires than in MMA. obviously not every belt holder gets that kind of money, but most champs are getting paid really well.
there are lighter guys not seeing big money, but even that isn't universally true. mikey garcia made 1M to clown broner, and 8M to fight spence. none of those 3 names are some huge stars. lomachenko fights at 135 and has been making more than a million per fight for a long time. it's rumoured that naoya inoue, who fights at 118lbs, gets a million per fight in japan.
MMA pay is bad in general, the biggest brand can afford to pay the better money, but its still far from boxing, GGG got 2.5million vs Jacobs, who got 1.75million, in a fight that sold like 200k....for the UFC to give a garanteed purse of 2M it had to be Conor, who got like 50m fighting Floyd, all of this purses not including any PPV points or sponsorship money, with the UFC its the brand that does a big part of the draw, they put cards almost every week and its always UFC name first, they even have uniforms. Why don't fighters just go to Bellator if the pay is so bad? If Bellator gave fighters a % cut instead of a flat fee, and if enough big names moved to Bellator, and if Bellator sold a PPV for cheaper than the UFC, you'd think they would start to seriously compete.
There must be something else afoot. Maybe the money comes from the UFC brand itself, which makes the fighters have less pull since outside options aren't as lucrative.
Easier to build stars in boxing. More guys who are actually undefeated. I'm sure Jones and Khabib are doing fine money wise.
Well they are bringing in way more than what they are paid. So they literally are worth at least that. You think the extra money should go to the promoters who aren't risking their health???
They are if they bring those $100m back and more so the business can be a success, some claim Conor got $100m from the Floyd fight, yet i doubt he made more than $10m fighting Khabib, in what i believe it was the biggest UFC fight ever, and he was the B-side vs Floyd, he got more money, i guess athletes are worth more than $100m, they just need to get fair pay.i don't care how good he is, no professional athlete is worth $100m dollars.
