I find it interesting that both train at AKA and are teammates so I assumed their would be mutual respect between the two. But I think the respect goes only one way from Josh to Khabib. Did anyone notice that Josh was cornering Khabib in his last fight and during the post fight interview Khabib begged and asked for a title shot knowing that his teammate and cornerman is next for the title shot?

I wonder if Josh felt disrespected when his teammate was trying to cut in front of him for a title shot. I wonder, lol? If that was my teammate I would feel slighted that my teammate would be trying to cut in front of me for my chance for the belt and WTF I just cornered you, lol.

If it's for a belt, they'll fight for it I imagine.

Before that even happens, they have a few tough fights ahead to win.

i don't think he was thinking about that.. wasn't it supposed to be pettis vs someone else that got injured before josh stepped in and this was after that ufc event? eitherway him pushing for the title shot doesn't mean he'll get it. they'l prolly still make him fight 1 top 5 guy or a couple top 10's so him asking is just pushign himself int he right direction.

No, it's understood Thomson already has the shot, Khabib isn't saying they should break up a title fight just for him, he means that he wants a shot at whomever has the belt after that fight is over. And in a post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani, this was addressed. Khabib said he wants a title shot and Josh said that he thinks it would be selfish for a champion to say they didn't want to fight somebody from their camp or a friend who is otherwise deserving of a chance, so he said he would fight Khabib if that's what it came down to.

Josh has the skills to accomplish just that. We can only hope that he can survive a very, very intensive Training Camp relatively unscathed.
Key word, as you suggested, is "hope".

Josh is better everywhere than Khabib.
Khabib at least has the wrestling advantage over Pettis.

It is a pretty normal statement, dunno why you're raging.

I never said Khabib would destroy Pettis or anything like that, stop crying.

Everyone on this site over hypes Khabib.

Sherdog acts as if... Anderson, Fedor, Jones, GSP, and Aldo fused into one unstoppable fighter, then mix that fighter with Goku at Super Saiyan God level (Yes Super Saiyan God is real, watch the new movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods) and Kid Buu, and you still wouldn't have a fighter half as good as Khabib.

this must be a sign the cold war is alive and kicking. seriously though everyone saying khabib is over rated on sherdog either doesn't understand how wrestling favors American MMA, and/or haven't seen Khabibs potential.

I don't... i just think Pettis is a better match-up for Khabib than Thomson... Can't believe someone gets mad over such comment, lol.
ps: i'd still pick Pettis over Khabib.

Glad to see a fighter who wants to be the best fighter in his weight class and doesn't pull the lame we train together so we won't fight when it would be the biggest opportunity of your career. It's one thing to not to want to fight a teammate when it's just a random fight without any title implications. But if you're truly a fighter dedicated at being the best in the world you don't just step aside for a title shot because your teammate is the champ.

If the UFC is smart they'll keep Khabib away from Pettis while he is champ because Khabib might just beat him.
