I'm a really big fan of bantamweight Joseph Benavidez, mostly because he is about the same size as me and its cool to see smaller fighters but I've been looking around the Internet trying to find info about his workout routines and whatnot with minimal luck. If anyone has any connections with Team Alpha Male or has any knowledge of what Joseph Benzvidez's diet /supplement routine is and could post it for me or pm me I that would be great.

I have a crazy fast metabolism that isn't conducive to gaining weight but I'm looking to gain 25 pounds to put me around 135 and I'd like as much of it to be muscle as possible, shooting for at least half if I can, but I know its not going to happen on my current eating habits.

what are you doing now? lifting and eating wise.

obviously you will need to start eating and lifting more, but some base info would be helpful.

You could ask Uriah on fb, he answers sometimes. I've asked him stuff on the fb chat shit and his page.

just because it works for him doesn't mean it will work for you.
I would recommend the FAQ for your specific goals.

dude are you like 15 or something??? I am only a little bigger than Benavidez and at my lowest ever I was 125, 115 lbs seems really underweight. The problem may be your lifting program. I used to lift more like a body builder and I would not gain any weight or strength. But doing compound lifts made a huge difference; this may or may not be your problem.

Well my diet has really changed since I decided to gain, I know I need more calories during during the day though. Every morning for breakfast I have 2 poptarts for 400 calories then I have a snack, usually pretzels or something small for lunch and then dinner is a 12in sub from subway, couple burgers from 5 guys, or fast food. I used to think if I ate a bunch of junk I'd gain some fat that I could burn into muscle but I can't even gain fat.

As far as lifting I just started getting into it. We don't have anything at the house besides an exercise bike and I'm not very creative so I do a lot of push-ups and sit-ups. I have a 40lb adjustable dumbbell set that I've been using for curls and triceps. Its a total of 40lbs over 2 bars so I can either put a max of 20 on each or overload one with 30 and not use the 2nd bar. Went to a friends who has a bench press and benched for the first time in like 7 years. I also hit his heavy bag a little for working punches.

I'll be 21 next month. I'd say the lack of lifting doesn't help anything but I can eat a ton of stuff to simply gain fat and end up losing weight. I used to think I could out eat my metabolism but it never worked. For example there were days when dinner would consist of 40 chicken nuggets from mcdonalds with fries and a soda and ice cream a little while after. Wake up and I lost 2-3 pounds. Ridiculous.

Your diet sounds just terrible. Please read the FAQs. There is a lot of great info in there. Also, if you really want to gain weight quick, read one of the many GOMAD threads. Next, head over to the S&C section and read those stickies. Again, great info in there. Find yourself some real weights and learn to squat and deadlift correctly. If you follow the advice in both FAQs, you will gain muscle.

Also, if you don't have access to a gym, try craigslist. For about $200 I have a gym in my garage that has everything I need.

hmm. seems to me
1. dude no wonder you are 115lbs, you are eating food that wont put solid mass on you. Eat more things like chicken, beef, whole milk, eggs, and read the faq it will help you out ALOT.
2. "I ate a bunch of junk I'd gain some fat that I could burn into muscle" that is not how it works, muscle is muscle and fat is fat they don't turn into each other, again covered in the faq.
3. unless you have never done strength training, push ups in high volume won't really make you that strong. At the range that they are usually done they normally just work endurance more than anything. If you really cannot access a gym I think some pushup variants are better for power, especially weighted pushups done in the 1-8 rep range. read the strength and conditioning faq and you will be enlightened.
4. Sounds like you are not eating enough then. Focus on eating as much whole foods (less processed i.e. vegetables, fruits, meat), fill in calories with decent energy sources (carbs, fats) and up the calories when necessary and eventually you will start putting on mass.
5. You may want to consider starting strength with a gallon of whole milk a day. You seem to be an ideal candidate.

wow. first thing were going to need to change is that diet. unhealthy foods that people attribute to "getting fat" is not going to get you what you want...

you should read the faq, start upping your protein, fat, veggies, fruits, drink some damn shakes (not from mcdonalds), and give the starting strength routine a try.

you really should have no problem getting bigger. id kill for the metabolism to assume one cannot gain mass. you can. just need to adjust what youre doing accordingly.

also, milk is your friend. drink up.

Yeah I've realized that my diet isn't very good whatsoever, unfortunately as far as meals when I'm home I'm at the mercy of whatever my mom has decided to buy and make and she doesn't make steak or anything high in protein very often. Plus I can't cook so unless I learn I can't really make anything myself. And everyone in my family has issues with cholesterol and stuff besides me so my mom always gets 1% milk and reduced fat or fat free garbage.

PitBull, I might have to somehow get a gym membership (which I really can't afford since I'm in school) because I checked on craigslist in my area and there are some gym sets being sold, one I saw about 12 miles from my house for $500 but the issue with them is we have no where to put it. Garage is full with 2 cars, grill, generator, freezer, etc and the basement is split between a "theater" side and a storage side where we keep old stuff, foosball/pool table, and mom hangs clothes.

I'm going to check out all the suggested FAQs and I know everyone is different but what brands of supplements have worked best for you all if you used them? I know walmart has some cheap whey protein but I'm wary to try it because it might be a waste, one of those you get what you pay for kinda things...

go to a used tire yard and grab a big tractor tire, i bet they wont charge for one. grab a used weight rack. ive seen them for 100$. i kept one in my backyard for years.

whey protein is cheap as fuck and thats all you should focus on right now other than a multi vitamin some fish oil.

also, everyone can bake/boil a chicken breast. a george foreman grill is your friend as well.

one of the things youre going to need to adjust is that if you really want to do this, gotta say fuck whatever else the rest of your house is eating and do your own thing. its hard work and not the cheapest, but it will get you the results you want.

So basically whole milk, whey protein shakes, more meat and some weight equipment then?

I don't believe I've ever had whole milk, grew up with 2% and then mom started getting 1%. Would it be something that is better to gradually increase up to GOMAD?

I don't know what you mean by "gym set," but you don't need much to get started. First, buy a barbell and as much weight as you can. That should cost you WAY less than $500 and is plenty to get started with.

Just searched your area for "barbell" and this popped up. This is a better set for you. Also, remember you can haggle. Keep searching, it took me about 3 weeks to find everything I wanted, but people are always trying to get rid of their stuff.

i dont like whole milk, i drink 2%. but im being a little bitch about it. if i really wanted to just get big quick i would be downing whole milk. in your case, i would say whole milk is what youd want.

lots of meat and veggies will do you well. it can be done fairly cheap. try to make your meals through the day, eating out isnt going to do you much good. you can buy bulk meat for cheap, big packets of chicken that will me almost 2 weeks are only $20 at costco.

look at the starting strength routine. maybe check out a local gym membership. i know you said youre in school but theyre not overly expensive. i think the most ive seen for a gym (this is not an mma gym, just a regular gym) was $50 a month, and i live close to the bay area in california. if they get more expensive than that i would lol and walk out.

some people prefer working out at home. i notice that i slack off if i work at home. if i make my way to the gym and am paying every month to use it, im going to make good use of my time. everyone is different though.

Are you eating out 7 days a week? Take a look at how much you're spending on fast food throughout the week. Before I started taking my own lunch to work, I could spend anywhere from $40-70 a week on garbage food and sodas. Take that money and see what you can buy at the grocery store. Buy a crap ton of eggs and eat those for breakfast every day. Learn to cook. Some butter or olive oil or whatever in a heated pan isn't really that hard to accomplish. Big bag of frozen veggies, some chicken breast, cottage cheese, raw almonds or something, all good choices. Read the FAQ like most other people have suggested. There's lots of good stuff in there.
