Just very happy to see Aldo keep fighting in UFC, War Aldo!!!!!!!! he is gonna dominate.
Well, yeah..
Aldo’s last fight there went so well.
Hopefully they give Aldo the Andrei Arlovski treatmentJust very happy to see Aldo keep fighting in UFC, War Aldo!!!!!!!! he is gonna dominate.
Would you rather fight 3 Cejudo-sized Aldos or one Carwin sized Aldo?
I think Aldo finishes him. Mario is talented, but he has defensive lapses on the feet in several of his fights and I'm not sold on his durability. Sandhagen dropped him and Trevin Jones knocked him out. Bautista relies heavily on his offensive grappling; he's a solid wrestler with a lethal top game -- very good at hunting submissions after he takes dudes down. But Aldo is one of the best defensive wrestlers the UFC has ever seen and hasn't been submitted since 2005. Even Merab had nothing for him in terms of actually taking him down or holding him down.
So if Mario's offensive grappling gets stifled -- which I expect it to -- he is reduced to using his stand-up. Mario is a very solid striker, don't get me wrong. Very fluid, lots of stance switches, lots of volume from the outside, mixes it up at all three levels. But I don't think he has the power to earn Aldo's respect or the dynamism to pick him apart at range for 15 minutes without the King of Rio crashing the pocket and boxing him up at some point. On paper I would argue that Jonathan Martinez is just as dangerous of a pure striker as Mario Bautista if not more so and Aldo made him look like he didn't even belong in the cage with him.
I miss drunk Substance Abuse...(and I agree)Nice to see the UFC continue to feed Aldo to guys who have hardly any name value and hope they win, building themselves off of his. Such is life in MMA for the aging veterans.
Aldo has issues with pressure fighters who can push forward and make him reactive; cause damage and make him work. He needs to find a way to negate the pressure and keep Mario off of him. It's more difficult than ever as his reflexes are slower and his ability to see incoming offense is diminished. Skill for skill, Aldo should win, but he'll hit the wall eventually.
I hope so as well. Aldo is 5-1 in his last 6 UFC fights and I think he should be 6-0 because the Merab fight was a joke, there was no "fight", the whole thing was disgusting. Its a shame because Aldo would have probably got another title shot, he has beat all top 10 opponents as well apart from his last fight the guy wasn't in top 10.Hopefully they give Aldo the Andrei Arlovski treatmentif he falls down a bit more, still looked pretty sharp his last fight though
There's got to be some financial reason why they keep returning there. Is Salt Lake City full of fight fans or something? Maybe low taxes/friendly commissions and relatively close to Vegas? If I was Aldo, I'd never fight in salt lake city again after the last fight he had there.
Dom would definitely be the preferred fight for most of us sir, so you're definitely not alone.I wish they would be giving Aldo bigger names to fight. I would be much more interested seeing him vs Dom Cruz. no matter who Aldo fights I will tune in, but this is the second fight in a row where he is fighting a relative no name fighter.
edit: I was not copying previous posters. I did not even read the comments until after I posted. Glad I am not alone though!
