Jordan Parsons diagnosed with CTE after only 5 years in MMA

Every major sport concussion/neurology body has said there is no conclusive evidence of a cause and effect relationship between sport concussion and CTE. I'm not going to get into a back and forth with you. Have you read one actual medical journal on this subject?

"A cause and effect relationship has not yet been demonstrated between CTE and SRC's or exposure to contact sports"

https://journals.lww.com/cjsportsme...atement_on_Concussion_in_Sport_the_4th.1.aspx

"It was further agreed that a cause and effect relationship has not yet been demonstrated between CTE and concussion or exposure to contact sports"

https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/bjsports/early/2017/04/26/bjsports-2017-097699.full.pdf

"A cause and effect relationship between post mortem CTE changes and antemortem behavioural and cognitive manifestations has not yet been demonstrated and asymptomatic players have had confirmed CTE pathology at autopsy.

https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/53/4/213

"as such, the relationship among concussion, sub concussive impacts and long-term brain health is not clear"

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3975780/

"no clear cut definitive cause and effect relationship has been established"

You can guarantee diego Sanchez has it and gaethje as well. Almost all fighters will have it to some degree. Doesnt mean you will turn to mush. Some peoples brains naturally decay more than others.
Another guy I'm worried for is Stipe, he can't really talk properly anymore. He's a stand-up guy too.

Thanks for all the references. I'll add a couple:

https://www.nature.com/articles/labinvest201554

From the Nature abstract:

"Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) has been in the medical literature since the 1920s. It is characterized clinically by diverse neuropsychiatric symptoms, and pathologically by variable degrees of phosphorylated tau accumulation in the brain. The evolving paradigm for the pathogenesis of CTE suggests that concussion or subconcussion from athletic participation initiates a cascade of pathologic events, encompassing neuroinflammation and protein templating with trans-synaptic neurotoxicity. The end result is neurologic and neurobehavioral deterioration, often with self-harm. Although these concepts warrant further investigation, the available evidence permits no conclusions as regards the pathogenesis of the reported findings."

What I can't find are the leading alternative hypotheses on the pathogenesis of CTE. If concussion doesn't cause it, what does? Why does participation in contact sports come up in all these discussions of CTE?

This is a pretty comprehensive overview of the alternative idea's;

They don't know shit about the brain and CTE

So who the fuck knows what it actually means that they have found CTE

Maybe 90% of the population has it

Another guy I'm worried for is Stipe, he can't really talk properly anymore. He's a stand-up guy too.
He never could talk in the first place. Don't think he has cte just mumbles and has a hoarse voice. Can't understand shit this guy says lol

Getting your brain scrambled regularly will do damage no doubt. Fighters get hit in and out of professional competition all the time. I'd imagine those who can avoid the bigger shots and knockdowns will not be severely affected by the damage (look at Floyd, etc.) but guys like Tony, Gaethje, Diego will unfortunately (probably) suffer some harsh long-term damage. The scary part is it sneaks up on you and when you listen to Gaethje, the Diaz bros talk or Tony throwing holy water on his wife, you know this thing wont end well. I obv. hope I'm dead wrong.

He had a form of CTE that he even claimed could've been a result from the Larry Holmes fight. Look into it.
Was he a neurologist? I've heard of Ali stating he thinks the Holmes fight gave him parkinson's, I've never heard any argument that head trauma and parkinsons are linked though.

These fighters instead of shooting steeroids should be shooting things like BPC-157, Thymosin Beta 4 and FGL for brain neurogenesis. Like seriously, infact it should be supplied by the UFC or athetlic commissions, including boxing.

I agree. Though Gaethje still sounds sharp in interviews, he most likely has permanent damage. Diego definitely has CTE, though it might not be obvious to many, since he’s always been loopy.

Ok or don't? Don't see how those are related at all to the subject at hand.
I was just being a dick, pointing out how its typical for someone to say something like they have some sort of evidence (eg. head trauma causing parkinson's disease), then telling the person asking for said evidence to look it up. Usually it just means 'I don't know, but I saw something on youtube' ala that fucking moron eddie bravo.

The U.S. Army treats brain trauma with methamphetamine.
