Sure but he didn't have the strength and experience of knowing he can compete at the highest levels back when he was an Olympic wrestling and even in SF. Now he's an undefeated tournament champion and the biggest threat to Jones. That confidence should more than make up for jitters over a big fight.
I think you're wrong about Jones. You can see how hard he tries to be witty and relate to people, but he just fails repeatedly. Throwing shirts to a booing crowd isn't for the benefit of the few who might support him. It's to try to win over all the ones who don't like him. Same with filming his acts of charity.
He had competed in the olympics and won the SF tourney when he fought Mir, and he did pretty much nothing in that fight other than hold Mir against the cage because he said he had an adrenaline dump and octagon jitters. Not saying it WILL happen again, but it COULD given the hype of this fight and how amped he seems.
Jones, who knows. We're just guessing. For all the boos and stuff he still also has supporters, and it's hard to know for sure what's in his head. He says he wants to inspire people in a positive way, which may be true and part of why he does stuff like film a charitable act. He also acts pretty immature at times. I think he got pretty famous at a really young age and like a lot of other people has had a hard time adapting. That might not be everything that's going on, but I think it's some of it.
