Most of the gifs in the OP showcase Jones' chin but the Machida gif instead shows him doing a magisterial job of avoiding shots, not eating them.

I doubt the blows Jones took from Cormier are equivalent to those C's HW opponents took.

Very true. It seems like HW DC packs much more KO power than LHW DC. He kills himself to make 205 and it seems to sap his knockout power. Still a great fighter at LHW, mainly because of his wrestling, but he seems to lack that one strike stopping power he has shown at HW.
