There is nobody left at LHW, and Jones has nothing left to prove there anymore. Time for Jones to take a fight with Stipe and maybe Adesanya if he makes it past Yoel and then retire.
You can't say you cleaned out the division when you arguably lost your last 2 fights. Even if in the end, he deserved the decision, stop being silly and acting like either Santos or Reyes didn't show they could win a rematch with Jon, when they arguably won the first fight with Jon?
Adesanya is never going to move up in weight classes while Jones is there. It’s al talk. Jones probably will move up to take on Stipe but he better be careful - Stipe’s boxing is no joke and he hits way harder than Reyes.
Izzy has been real clear he wants to solidify his MW title reign. Which is funny that people bitch about Conor jumping weight classes after winning the title but are giving flak for Izzy staying at MW, while saying eventually he wants to fight Jon.
Jones is an ordinary fighter now. He lost last night and barely squeaked by a guy with one leg in his last fight. He'll retire within a year. He knows he's done.
Reyes and Santos should fight each other. That would be a fun LHW matchup that finally doesn’t have to involve Jones.
Jones vs. Rakic - Fun. Jones vs. Beastin 25/8 - Fun. Jones vs. Johnny Walker - Fun. If Valentina can keep fighting soccer moms in the same division, then Jones can keep fighting elite fighters in the same division.
Dana isn't taking it away DC's title shot, it's not happening. NOW, if Stipe can't go by July then Jones/DC 3 for interim/Vacant belt is plausible.
People aren’t giving Izzy flack for staying at middle-weight and defending the belt - that’s actually the right thing to do for the division. He gets grief because he is talking constant shit - personally attacking Jones - about a fight that he says he’s not ready to take for years. Izzy otherwise has a lot of interesting fights ahead - he just gets the most attention when he yaps about Jones.
Not an unlikely scenario but that would be a paper belt - no “champ-champ” credit for Jones picking up an interim belt.
