I'm not a fan of his and I never like seeing him winning.
Was really hoping Cormier would put an end to his dominion at LHW, but Cormier was basically outwrestled (him being probably the best wrestler in the UFC at the mo) ,looked powerless and was taken down almost at will, especially in later rounds.
He has proven he can hang out with a very tall and skilled fighter such as Guss. Close victory yes, not decisive and convincing for a champ but....on the other hand I don't think Gus did enough to beat the Champ.
All the others, except maybe Rashad and the brief Vitor arm-bar, basically looked like they did not belong inside that octagon with him. And we are talking about highly skilled and highly ranked opponents.
Now..I really like AJ, very modest and composed personality, very likeable person. As a fighter, he is probably living the best period of his life, his punching power is fearsome and has shown solid TDD. He has the numbers to fight and win against JJ, but I do fear JJ's fight IQ might be overwhelming and make it look like a JJ vs Rampage sort of contest. I think that if JJ gets a clean undebatable victory against him he has the claim to be called the best ever, or at least one of the best with GSP, Preroid-Silva and Fedor. Thoughts?
