I'm not a fan of his and I never like seeing him winning.
Was really hoping Cormier would put an end to his dominion at LHW, but Cormier was basically outwrestled (him being probably the best wrestler in the UFC at the mo) ,looked powerless and was taken down almost at will, especially in later rounds.
He has proven he can hang out with a very tall and skilled fighter such as Guss. Close victory yes, not decisive and convincing for a champ but....on the other hand I don't think Gus did enough to beat the Champ.
All the others, except maybe Rashad and the brief Vitor arm-bar, basically looked like they did not belong inside that octagon with him. And we are talking about highly skilled and highly ranked opponents.
Now..I really like AJ, very modest and composed personality, very likeable person. As a fighter, he is probably living the best period of his life, his punching power is fearsome and has shown solid TDD. He has the numbers to fight and win against JJ, but I do fear JJ's fight IQ might be overwhelming and make it look like a JJ vs Rampage sort of contest. I think that if JJ gets a clean undebatable victory against him he has the claim to be called the best ever, or at least one of the best with GSP, Preroid-Silva and Fedor. Thoughts?

A tad off topic but why isnt this fight booked yet?

He can only surpass Fedor by going to HW. He's much bigger than Fedor so there's no excuse. You can't become the GOAT by being a HW-sized LHW beating up former MWs and WWs. Don't forget how shitty he looked against the only opponent that was his own size.

Perhaps. I think he should go to HW. Until he does that he will always be in the same mix as Fedor, GSP and Anderson.

this... however, he goes to HW and does it, I'm sold. So sold!

Jones will never be GOAT unless his recent test results are further investigated and he is cleared of any suspicious activity. His testosterone was somewhere in the realm of being 50 times below the normal levels for a male his age, let alone a world class athlete.

My dead grandfather would have shown higher testosterone levels than he had. It screams fowl play. Really points to some sort of tampering, specifically taking some sort of masking agent that would have hidden elevated levels. Cormiers results were completely normal.

Bones is already the GOAT at 205. Dominating 5 former champs in Shogun, Machida, Rampage, Rashad and Belfort guarantees that.

Some will never admit Jon Jones is becoming the greatest the sports has ever seen because he is unlikeable to them. They will keep raising the bar.

When Jon is done, they will look at his career, his accomplishments, his resume, his records & nobody in the GOAT debate will be able to compare. He will own all the records in MMA's premier organization, the UFC, & that will be very hard to argue against.

He is already GOAT in my books. I thought the DC win gave him a resume that he could proudly throw on the poker table and stare GSP and Fedor in the eyes and argue his case at the GOAT roundtable. Silvas seat is empty due to PEDs so whoever wants to give that fourth seat to someone go ahead. Jones resume takes a backseat to no one. Rumbs is just another page in this masterpiece nove Jones has written, but to me GOAT status has already been achieved. If he wants to retire with the crown and make sure no one else ever approaches the thrown, he needs 2 things to happen. Beat Weidman, then capture the 265 belt from whoever holds it. If he does that, no one can ever get in the GOAT conversation again. He would be Ali, Jordan level chit where they talk about you 20-30 years after you retire.

How is Anderson disqualified and Jones not?? Dude had test levels of my grand ma

This...period.

Beating smaller guys doesnt make you GOAT.

If he can actually make weight for LHW why do people have so many problems with this? I think it's quite silly...I don't dislike him for that. Being tall is a physical advantage, but who said having physical advantage is against the rules?...JJ has a great capability of making you feel smaller in the Octagon, as if you can't get to him (even Cormier said that)...that's not just the height and the reach, it's the technique he puts into it...Yeah, the eyepokes are an annoying issue but who says that they actually win him the fights is just foolish and can't see the truth. I myself do not like him as a person, but I am honest to myself and must admit he is an amazing fighter. I don't think he needs to go up to HW to prove he's the best, a decisive win against AJ shall suffice.
Off topic: another fighter who I believe has great GOAT potential is Cain, hope he gets over this injury problem and keeps on demolishing opponents

Nope, GSP then Fedor are still above him. Maybe LHW GOAT. Still, I don't like him one bit. He makes me want to puke.

Well the experts don't agree with your assessment.

Luke Thomas: Are there natural explanations for why it could be that low?

Dr. Catlin: Yeah, the normal range is from around .1 up to 4, so you can be that low and have absolutely nothing wrong.

Catlin is the founder of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory, which is the first U.S. anti-doping lab, where he served as director for 25 years.

But lets just ignore the experts because Sherdog doctors are the real experts.

Fedor a natural light heavyweight became GOAT by erradicating guys over a foot taller than him and with 30 pounds of muscle mass more than him. Jones on the other hand has had the opposite career and has bullied his opponents. He is a fantastic fighter, but he should move up to the HW where he belongs and than I will reevaluate him.

That doesnt tell the whole story. What wasn't expanded on is that he COULD be that low naturally...BUT...he would not be able to be in the shape he is in at those levels. He would fight weight issues and generally not be your typical "alpha male" if he was naturally that low.

He shape + those low levels = Something doesn't add up.

This is similar to a doctor saying that a 3 foot tall midget is perfectly healthy and that is a normal height that can happen naturally. BUT if that 3 foot tall midget outruns Usain Bolt in the 100 meter dash something doesnt f@#king add up.
