Like Mayweather he fights for the judges, using their criteria. The way the criteria is written is that only strikes and grappling with the potential to contribute towards
the end of the match are prioritised over octagon control and aggression. So Jon knows if he walks his opponent down for 5 rounds without getting damaged, he wins. Why take any further risk?
